Ocean City, MD Winter Beach Wedding

greeneyes0805, on October 19, 2013 at 9:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

Has anyone been to a beach wedding in the winter in OCMD or the Delaware area beaches? We want to get married on the beach, that's both of our dreams but we have chosen to get married next winter after he graduates college. We want to have it in Maryland because it is local for his friends and family and about 3 hours away for mine. Is it worth it to have it on the beach? We would have an indoor reception but I can't imagine having it anywhere else. It's where we fell in love. I can only see myself walking towards him with the ocean in the background. I am just concerned about our time on the beach if it is cold. How will the guests be comfortable? I'm torn if we should just have the wedding indoors with a beach view and just take pictures there it have it on the beach. I just want the sand and water in it! Any suggestions?

I would suggest indoors with a beach view. I live not too far from there and it does get very cold in the winter!

You could have the ceremony inside with a beach view and if its possible have some of your wedding photos taken on the beach.

You could look into having a heated tent on the beach, although I have no idea the feasibility or potential cost of having a heated tent on a public beach in the winter. What month are you looking at?

I lived in Maryland for a short time, i do no recommend marrying on the beach in winter. The wind is awful and the sand can feel like ice at times. If a beach wedding is your dream I would change the date if possible. There were times they had signs up to not enter the beached areas due to bad weather, it's so unpredictable

Thank you everyone for your advice. The more we're talking the more we realize if we want a beach wedding we should have it when it will be nice! Either we will push it back to a warmer date or have a smaller ceremony on the beach in a warmer climate and have a reception after the honeymoon indoors.

I'm not sure your date but even late September early October is okay weather there. It would be nice enough for the ceremony at least if weather permits
