Obligatory "And so it begins..." post

Princess Consuela, on September 11, 2015 at 9:46 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 24

Well, it's been 72 hours since we sent invitations and already two separate couples have asked if they can bring their kids. Are your children named on the invitation? No. Does it say "2 seats are reserved in your honor?" Yes. So I think you can answer the question on your own about whether kids are invited... (Spoiler alert: They're not.)

Damn people are ballsy. Or stupid.

The two most common things in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity.

I feel like people have no sense of etiquette these days...

We allowed kids, but limited plus ones (if it is a cousin coming with their siblings and parents and not engaged or getting married, no plus one). FH has a huge family with tons of cousins, so we just couldn't allow all of them to bring boyfriends and girlfriends. Anyways, one of FH's aunts wrote in her son's girlfriend. Later on, they were talking to FMIL and were like "I hope that wasn't an issue". If you even wonder if it would be an issue, why wouldn't you call and ask first? I'm sure you will get a few too, but we had guests write in their own suggestion for how many seats were reserved for them.

Ha I was going to say I'm so glad this part is over for me, but I just got an RSVP in the mail yesterday. Our reply date was 8/19 lol.

I already got roped into inviting a 13 year old second cousin of FH. ALl their weddings on his side, were small back yard weddings.

MINE IS NOT... now I have to pay $60 for a freaking kid who I dont know and cant even drink the open bar. I told FH.. Thats it.. No more additions. Someone wants to come.. great. give me a check.

Haha, Elyse, gah!! How frustrating. We aren't limiting kids entirely, but keeping it to only first cousins and my FH's niece and nephew. The two people who have asked are my dad's cousins and my cousins if they can bring their kids. Luckily I can just say that we have to stick to first cousins due to space, but the fact that two people have already asked feels like a bad omen!

Oh man... that's not a good sign. One of my girl friends texted yesterday because she couldn't remember if her invite had just her name on it or also her fiance and she said "no pressure, just want to do it right!" I should have replied with "of course it has your fiance's name on it, I'm on WW!"

714 - I suppose at least they're asking before they RSVP!

Twin - I'm glad she asked, and sounded like it really was no pressure! I'm not letting this stuff stress me out. I just can't, or else I'll be in a murderous rage between now and the wedding!

Went to a wedding this past weekend and the children were out of control , there's nothing wrong with bringing your children but when I mean out of control I mean out of control the out of control children were running around everywhere, taking decorations off the tables , popping balloons, making a bug mess in the dance floor , fighting ect....

FH and I looked at each other and said no kids lol

Oh, it's not a matter of "if" it will happen. It's simply "when" and "who". I posted about this very issue a couple weeks ago bc I stupidly assumed that my group wouldn't pull this shit. At least 5 have so far. Just drink. That's the only way to get through it without raging out lol. I can't drink so I ate lots of sugar instead hahahah.

Dreamer, I wish I could passive-aggressively post that on Facebook!

ETA - Laura, just saw your post. Definitely wine. Just posted this meme in CF, but it is also appropriate here.
