nyc Hair & Makeup Artist hmua

Hi all! Definitely feeling the anxiety and sadness of the times but somehow still trying to keep planning for our August 2021 wedding in NYC. I know hair and makeup can be extremely expensive, especially in NYC, so I am going to try my best to find the most affordable artist/team. We are planning to get ready in an Airbnb in Brooklyn and would like an artist to come to us for makeup and hair styling. Including myself, there will be 7 ladies getting both services. We all are not super into makeup, so I am just looking for a very soft and simple natural glam look. I am somehow hoping I can find a team that would do both hair and makeup for $150 per person (or separate artists that would charge $75-$80 for each service). I know this sounds extremely low considering most charge that amount and more for just makeup alone, but maybe it’s possible if we find a smaller freelance artist that is not listed as a vendor on Wedding Wire or other major sites. I didn’t love the makeup, but for my cousin’s wedding, she found a local salon in the Bronx where the ladies came to us and charged $50 for each service, so it may be possible but just hard to find. I plan to spend hours on Thumbtack and surfing Instagram hashtags for NYCMUA, but hoping that perhaps some NYC brides here can help and share anyone they know or worked with that charges around that price for these services!
