nyc cupid

We planned a St Maarten wedding that would have been next weekend but... COVID. Struggling with my guilt for being so disappointed my wedding day isn’t going as planned while so many people are going through hardships due to this pandemic. So we decided to still get married at home on the day or as close to 5/30 as we could. When we tried to apply for a license through the NYC CUPID Website they don’t have availability until Mid September! I’ve emailed them for an earlier date to no avail. We’ve been together for a decade and have a 3 year old and we were finally taking the step and so excited, these roadblocks that we cannot control are so unnerving for me. He is trying to keep my spirits high and I love it, but I’m still annoyed by the situation. Is anyone else having an issue with NYC CUPID?

Oh, no! I'm so sorry you're having this problem.

I take it no one is answering phones? Maybe with Phase 1 getting closer, things will change.

I totally understand that guilt, I've also been struggling with my guilt with my disappointment - we're getting married in August in NY so we're in the deciding what to do phase and my fiance is a RN in the hospital so it makes me feel even worse being this upset when it's affecting him in a whole other way.

But I'll tell you what everyone keeps saying to me which is it's ok to be upset and disappointed, it's a big day, something you've put so much time and planning into, you're entitled to your feelings!!

I'm having the same issue (6/27 wedding date but marriage license appt in SEPTEMBER) and getting nowhere with emails. I linked the above article because it finally made me realize that getting a license earlier might be a losing battle. right now we are planning to go ahead with our intimate ceremony regardless of if we have the license (i have a friend who is an officiant so we can have a "ceremony" to validate our sept marriage license) but it's really frustrating. We are still trying every day to get a license, possible from upstate as thing start to open up but it's a REALLY defeating project. I'm also frustrated because my future spouse won't have health insurance for four months because of this delay! Typically anxiety producing but even more so in a pandemic!

WOW, thanks for the article! At least I know I'm not alone, I was thinking I did something wrong or was supposed to file so much sooner. I'm sure it's frustrating during times like this for those without insurance, please be careful. Good luck wit the license and I think to still have the ceremony is a beautiful idea. Best wishes.Smiley heart
