ny Gatherings

Lindsay, on June 3, 2020 at 11:24 AM Posted in New York Planning 1 22
Hi everyone just curious those who live in NY when do you think the gatherings will increase a bit? I’m still planning to get married in my backyard on July 17 right now with only 10 people but by my wedding date we could be in phase 4. I’m just heartbroken because none of my bridesmaids will be able to stand by my side if it’s only 10 peopleSmiley sad I’m so heartbroken about everything, cancelling my wedding and all the pain that has gone on for my fiancé and I all I would want is for at least my two maids of honor to be present but I would never put in away one in harms way if the gatherings are only 10 people especially because I have professionals attending just curious to know what people’s thoughts were?

Is your Wedding outdoors? Can they attend but maintain social distance (not going closer than 6 feet to anyone)?

Yes it will be in my backyard and they def can maintain the distance the only problem I am facing is having my officiant and photographer there and my officiant is saying it all depends on what’s allowed. I’m going to ask him again so atleast I can my two maids of honor which would only be 12 people!

Buffalo, NY here and unfortunately I personally don’t think gatherings will increase until the fall or even maybe the start of 2021. I know the phases seem to be moving quickly but I am not really sure when they increase gatherings. However! It may be phase 4, because I know that includes religious services and schools so I have my fingers crossed for you!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Both my partner and I have family in NY and we met/dated/got engaged in NY, but since moved to MD. As per usual with NY, it will depend on if you're in the city or not. The city could be 2021 before they allow full-size gatherings like weddings. But upstate is moving much, much faster. My mom is going back to work full-time starting Monday (works for a home builder). So I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!

Thanks Elizabeth I’m in Rockland which is 45 mins from the city it would be nice to have atleast 20 people which would be our bridal party but at this point I will just take having my maids of honor my fiancé gets his best man because it’s my brother so it’s breaking my heart that I may not even get my maids of honor and my maids of honor are basically my sisters I have known one of them since I was not even a year old and the other I met in 5th grade they are very important to me and I just pray I can atleast have them by my side.

It's hard to say when things will open up, because there's been so much going on. I will tell you that Broadway is unlikely to be back until at least January, so that gives you and idea of how people are looking at indoor gatherings.

Honestly, it likely won't be much more than 20 people for quite some time... we've just gotten hit so hard.

    I'm sorry!

Idk what region youre in but im in mid hudson and theyre allowing outdoor dining in phase 2 so if your venue is outdoor or in a tent the capacity might be 50%. they said they may start with 25% the first week and then build up. by phase 3 they should be allowing indoor dining. if youre getting married in your backyard you dont really have to worry about the phases because its your own property. i dont think anyone will report u if ur bridesmaids stand near each other

I’m in mid Hudson as well! I’m doing it in the backyard I just didn’t want to have people there because of my professionals. I didn’t want to make anyone feel uncomfortable. My reverend was saying things will depend on guidelines so I really wasn’t sure what to do thank you for your advice though I hope I can have them!

If it’s outdoors you may be okay to have 10+ people. In Buffalo they just opened for restaurants to offer guests strictly outdoor seating so I don’t see why you could have more than 10 people in your own backyard. Our wedding is booked for September and we have a venue that will not allow us to change our date just a 5 week notice. It’s stressful for all 2020 brides. But I’m sure it will work out for you both.
