ny Covid Brides/2nd Wedding Invites

Evelyn, on June 19, 2020 at 1:39 PM Posted in New York Planning 0 8
Hi all Covid Brides,

I mailed my Original wedding invites October 17, 2020 to all guests first week in June. I just added a Covid note regarding our New Wedding date. March 27, 2021. I need suggestions on whether I send another Invite or just RSVP’s in the Fall Season.

Wow, that's early to send out invites!

Do you have a deadline for when you'll make the call to postpone?

No matter what, I think you're going to have to chase people down for RSVPs, given how early you sent invites, COVID, and because people are generally awful about responding.

I wouldn't send out paper reminders, though, I'd reach out through email/text.

Everything fell as planned for October 17, 2020....invites have to be mailed 5-6 months in advance. I will mail Postponed note Mid November so that I can receive RSVP’s no later than January. I can have a complete headcount in a timely manner. I think text/email is informal. I will include my WWwebsite instead.

    Thank you

The reason I said you sent them early is because usually invites go out 6-8 weeks before. We got married in August and sent our invites in June.

STDs are sent out 5-6 months in advance.

Unfortunately, most people will forget an invite sent out too early, or will be unable to RSVP until much later, because of schedules.

While updating your website is useful, I suspect a lot of people won't think to check that to see if you have postponed. I would absolutely send a reminder. I suggested digital so you save money.

I would send a "change the date" ASAP to make sure everyone knows the date has been changed. If you've already sent out invites, you need to tell people you changed the date so they can free up their plans. Then on the CTD, you can say "please RSVP by" a new date. Then you can text/call/email those who forget to RSVP since some undoubtedly will. Good luck!

So have all of your guests already received notice of the new wedding date? If not I'd send out "change the dates" ASAP so all your guests can cancel their October plans and save your March date!

Then I'd send out new invitations and RSVPs 6-8 weeks before your wedding date with a RSVP deadline of 3 weeks before the wedding (or slightly earlier if your venue or caterer requires it)!

I think you should make sure that your guest saw your date change(COVID note) then I would follow the standard timeline as normal. 6-8 weeks wedding invitations with RSVP's due back 3-4 weeks prior to wedding.
