NWR: Zipper stuck in lace

So, I have a little lace dress I wore to my bridal shower today and planned to wear again for the rehearsal. I could kick myself for not being more careful zipping it up on the hanger but the lace is caught pretty badly in the zipper. Does anyone have a trick for working out delicate fabric? Normally I just give it a little tug and wiggle and its fine but I'm really nervous about tearing the lace :/

Slowly go up and then try to separate the fabric from the zipper then zip down and up again . It eventually will come out of the zipper

Coat the fabric above and below the zipper with bar soap. Do the same to the zipper itself.

A lady at my dress shop said to hook your index finger over the zipper while going up to prevent that and to just be careful when unzipping it. hope that helps!
