So I started re-reading (for like the fifth time) Anne Rices Vampire Chronicles, they've been my favorite since I was 12. I was tempted to read IT, saw the new movie in theaters and it's the only movie I actually considered walking out of! lol so what are your favorite books? Any suggestions for new...

I Am Legend is one of my all time faves. Very different plot from the movie and I loved both takes on it. I love anything Richard Matheson! And this one is no exception. As a huge fan of The Picture of Dorian Gray, I loved Graham Masterton's take on it with Family Portrait.

Anything by Jane Austen for me -my favs are Sense & Sensibility, Pride & Prejudice, & Persuasion.

Robin McKinley is another one of my favorite fairytale/fantasy authors. Deerskin (based on the fairy tale Donkeyskin) is one of my favorites but pretty dark. It helped me get through trauma a few years back, after being recommended by a therapist.

I also love Caitlin Doughty's Smoke Gets In Your Eyes and Other Lessons from the Crematory (need to read her new book From Here to Eternity: Traveling the World to Find the Good Death). I'm also a religious follower of her Youtube series Ask a Mortician and her blog The Order of the Good Death.

I'm obsessed with romance novels. I read 3 or 4 books a week. Anyway KC Lynn is my favorite author. Anything by her is AMAZING! Adriana Locke is also amazing I could go on and on but they are my favorite 2

I usually can't put down Malcolm Gladwell.

Devil in the White City is my fave. Non-fiction, but reads like a novel. Highly recommend for anyone living in Chicago!

I will read anything by JK Rowling, which includes Harry Potter, The Casual Vacancy and her new series Comoran Strike, which is SO different from HP its insane.

If I am looking for something simple, I read anything by Charliane Harris. She wrote the Sookie Stackhouse novels which was turned into True Blood. Her Midnight series also got picked up by ABC (?) but it stinks, the books are good though.

And I am a sucker for a good historical fiction or biography. I just finished On Hitler's Mountain and it was amazing!

@AllisonJ - I finished Devil in the White City a couple months ago. I thought it was pretty interesting! I am interested to see how the movie is.. Leonardo DiCaprio bought the rights to the movie.

@Kristin - I am a huge True Blood fan. I cried when the series ended. I attempted to read the first book of the series by Charliane Harris. I could not get through it! I don't know why. Ahh. I should maybe try the Midnight series.

TXN- I hated how the tv show ended but love the books. I really like her Aurora Teagarden series as well. Her writing style is a little more laid back.

@AllisonJ I was also going to mention Devil in the White City. I am not usually into historic novels, but I liked that one.

Some of my all-time favorites are:

Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World by Haruki Murakami (also Kafka on the Shore and 1Q84, among others).

The Dark Tower series by Stephen King (did not see the movie, and heard it was horrible, but the books are so good)

Earthsea books by Ursula Le Guin

Lord of the Rings books and The Silmarillion by Tolkien

I'm currently reading the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, recommended by a friend. I don't really like his writing style, but feel like I'm too far into it to quit now - like book 8 or something. And, I am interested in the fate of the characters. I'm also reading A Song of Ice and Fire books now that the TV show has passed the books. I'm enjoying them too.

I had also been a long-time Anne Rice fan, but have not kept up with the latest books.

I will reread Harry Potter every time I get the chance!

Right now I'm rereading Anna Karenina. When I want something less intense, I love the Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum novels or anything by Susan Elizabeth Phillips.

The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher.

Best way for me to explain is Harry Potter for adults with a sassy man as the main character

I'm re-reading the Cainsville series by Kelley Armstrong right now, and I'm just as in love as I was the first three times through.
