NWR: Voice sounds like I swallowed a frog

JessicaIsTotallySmithen, on March 2, 2016 at 1:30 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

Okay so last night I was at a hockey game screaming my head off. What else do you do at hockey games? Anyway, does anyone have any recommendations to help my voice? I thought it'd get better throughout the day but it isn't. I feel like I can feel my vocal cords rubbing against each other and it's not a pleasant feelings. TIA

It's really gross but i would swallow a tablespoon of some olive oil. it's not immediate relief but I used to play sports and would lose my voice weekly. This would make my voice come back much faster I found.

Throat Coat tea and Cepacol were my saviors when I was still acting. Hope you feel better soon! How'd your team do last night?

I'm a vocalist. Throat coat tea is good, but don't drink a ton of it. Trust me. Gross things will happen. Hot water with honey, lemon, and cinnamon. Avoid caffeine- it can irritate the vocal chords. Also, nothing menthol-y. Menthol can make it feel better and you'll push yourself because you think you feel better...then you're worse than you were when it wears off.

I usually do a warm salt water gargle in the morning and follow that up with warm water with honey or tea with honey throughout the day. Avoid ice cold beverages and don't clear your throat.

I am allergic to Christmas Trees and because my DH and BIL are always doing something on the side, they have tree lots during the holiday. So from Thanksgiving to New Year I sound like Froggy from Little Rascals.

Hot water , half a lemon (squeeze the juice in it and then put it in there) a little honey and sugar. And maraschino cherry juice with one or two in there.

Hot tea with lemon and honey!

That game was crazy. I can't believe the Pens hung in there that close. We kept flipping back and forth between that one and the Wild/Avs!

My go to is hot honey lemon water - hot enough to be soothing but not scalding.
