So I’ll warn you right now that this is waaaay TMI, but it’s something I’ve been feeling really anxious about lately, and I really wanted to get some idea of how other people deal with it. So I’ll warn you right now that this is waaaay TMI, but it’s something I’ve been feeling really anxious about lately, and I really wanted to get some idea of how other people deal with it. I hate pooping when FH is around! I know, I know, everybody poops. But some people (like FH) somehow manage to do their business while leaving the bathroom smelling as fresh as a warm spring day. I am not one of those people. No, I’m more of what you could call a “heavy hitter” in the stink department. Always have been. An open window or fan helps a little bit, but there’s really NO way to hide what happened in there. You just need to give it a solid 20-30 minutes to air out.

It was easy enough to avoid going in FH’s presence when we started dating, but after we got engaged and moved in together, I knew that gig was up. So the first time I saw him heading to the bathroom right after I blew it up, I warned him “um, you probably don’t want to go in there.” He just laughed and went right in anyways. And then immediately came running back out. He was like “wow, you weren’t kidding!” He wasn’t mean about it or anything (we were both kind of laughing), but I felt suuuuper awkward. Since then I’ve mostly tried to go when he’s not around, but I know that isn’t going to be sustainable forever.

Anyways, I thought it would be helpful to ask how y’all have dealt with this issue, especially for anyone else out there who’s a major stinker like me.

Poo-Pourri and a double flush! It’s gets better when you can have a 2nd bathroom in your place and the longer you’re married. Now we even say to each other “Good lord! That’s a double flush!” 😝

Now that we’re home shopping together it floors me how many toilets in a master bathroom are out on the open. Nope. We both agree: a door is required!
Funny (yet such so real) post!

I normally had issues in this department with other guys I dated but not my fiance. I'm super comfortable around him. But they do sell those vip poo sprays. You spray it in the toilet before going and it traps the smell. I used it at work and let me tell you it definitely works wonders.

Thank you, it's really nice to know that it's not just me! I know somewhere deep in my mind that it's not anything FH has a problem with, I just need to get the rest of my brain (like the parts that control shame and anxiety) on board with that. Sometimes I wish there was a support group for women like us to discuss these things. 🙃

    Poo-Pourri FTW.

I would also recommend: flushing while you're going so the smell moves away faster, or moving somewhere with a second bathroom. Honestly, that 2 bathroom life is where it's at, and then you can both go at the same time and not notice as much. Smiley smile

I'm so looking forward to the two bathroom life! I think that'll be another year or two away for us though, so I'll just have to get by with Poo Pourri...My order should be getting here today!
