NWR: I stopped taking the pill

I have talked with FH for awhile about not taking it after we were married. He said to just stop now. I had about 4-5 months of free packs left. Well, we went away last weekend and I forgot to take them with. Went 4 days without them. We decided I would just stop now. I am REALLY hoping this will...

I have talked with FH for awhile about not taking it after we were married. He said to just stop now. I had about 4-5 months of free packs left. Well, we went away last weekend and I forgot to take them with. Went 4 days without them. We decided I would just stop now. I am REALLY hoping this will help me lose some weight and I am also excited to see how I will act off of them.

I have been on BC pills that made me a pyscho b*t$#, ones that made me super skinny, and then this one that made me normal emotionally, but FAT! like obese fat...gained 65 pounds!

I have been on them since I was 17 and am now 25. Anyone else have stories of coming off BC? Am I overthinking not taking the pill? Maybe its no big deal?

So far the biggest bummer is that I had my period 2 weeks ago and now its back...and not being on the pill who knows how long it will last...

*We will be using condoms until the wedding. Not trying for kids quite yet, but know we want them some day.

Everyone's hormones are SO different, it's unreal. What works/doesn't work/has happened/hasn't happened for one person is never going to be the same for another person. I have a non-hormonal IUD, Paragard & I love it. Only complaint was my second period after having it inserted was VERY heavy, but my dr prescribed me a pill to help decrease the blood flow. I only take the pill while I am on my period and it has worked tremendously. I have tried SEVERAL different pills and nuvaring. HATED them all. No weight gain or acne, but severe emotional/mental issues, no sex drive, migraines, nasuea, stomach pains, etc.

I went off the pill for 4 months. I figured if I'm working at eating cleaner then I'd stop taking hormones. I became extremely emotional, which isn't like me at all - like if I couldn't find a parking spot, I'd start sobbing. I also get really, really angry at the drop of a hat. I didn't gain any weight but I had 7 day heavy periods that came every 18 days. After 4 months of that, I figured I'd better get back ON the pill before FH could cancel the wedding! Smiley smile

I'll re-evaluate after the wedding, and will talk to my Dr at my yearly this year. But during wedding planning while not trying for children was not my time to go off of it.

Megan- I would stay on the pill and keep the status quo until after the wedding/honeymoon. That way you don't have to deal with any potential side effects that may or may not come with getting off the pill.

Be careful of melasma when coming off the pill. I got it and it SUCKS. Dark spots like sun spots all along my upper lip - looks a bit like a mo! There are creams that fade it, but over all it is permanent and darkens with any sun exposure. Some people get it all over their face. Google it and ask your doc about it.

Good for you, lady...but this makes me SO nervous! The thought of being 8-9 months pregnant at the wedding is so scary! I know you are using other protection, but still. Seriously, when I read this topic, my heart sunk!!

I also don't understand why women go off it 2-3 months before the wedding. Weddings already cause women to throw up...I sure wouldn't want first trimester pregnancy to help that along! I am not a thrower-upper, so the thought of puking totally sucks to me!

On the pill I had absolutely NO sex drive, so at this point we never really would get pregnant. I've told FH I am TERRIFIED of getting pregnant before the wedding so I know he will make sure it doesn't happen. If IF I got pregnant today I'd end up at 9 months at the wedding...ay yi yi! LOL

I think for me its the right decision. At least for now. I and FH need to know how I act without taking little pills with hormones in them, if all goes to hell I will get back on something, have a serious talk with the doc and figure out what is best for me to be on.

GameCox, I won't get pregnant! Smiley smile and I have a good 9 months to start puking! haha

I was a psycho bitch the last time I was on birth control, with no sex drive whatsoever and I was extremely depressed. I'd taken birth control before and stopped after some fun gallbladder issues, and wasn't prepared at all for how it would affect me emotionally. I feel so much better now that I'm off it, but would love to find another one without as many crazy side effects as I'm not trying to get pregnant any time soon.

I stopped taking the pill about 6 months ago and honestly feel so much better! I've struggled with generalized anxiety disorder for about six years now and I honestly think that the pill made it worse. Since being off of it I have had very little anxiety/panic attacks.
