NWR bug bites

BeachBride, on September 12, 2016 at 7:12 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 19

Does anyone have awesome bug bite remedies? I have exactly 5,000 bug bites (mosquitos and no see ums) and over the counter itch cream does nothing for me! I've tried an aveeno cream and a cortisone cream. Any super awesome bug bite remedies?

No see ums are the WORST. I have no advice, I'm just here to sympathize.

If you dab bleach on them it is supposed to take the poison out that makes them itch/sting. My grandmother swears by it. I know it works for ant bites but she says it works for all bites.

@mrsmccoy they're terrible! I always get eaten alive. I pretty much can't be outside past sunset.

@o&I I'll have to try that!

I heard rubbing them with rubbing alcohol helps take the itch away. My mom swears by it but I've never tried it.

A bit of peppermint oil helps. It doesn't really make them go away at all but it will tingle a bit and won't feel so itchy.

I could've used this thread a week ago. I look like a meth addict from all the bites/scratches on my legs.

Calamine lotion works great, although the pink gunk can be annoying.

I'm Asian so we use monkey balm and it's the BEST for itchy bug bites!

I had 20+ on my ankles the other week and I happened to be out of hydrocortisone cream. I read that Epsom salt can help take the sting/itch from bug bites. I soaked my feet and lower legs in an Epsom salt bath, and it really did help. I got more hydrocortisone a day later, but the Epsom salt did give me temporary relief so I could fall asleep.

Take Zyrtec or Claritin to help stop the reaction and the bumps will go down.

I've been rubbing hydrogen peroxide on my legs thanks to your suggestions. I figured it's the same thing as rubbing alcohol? Right? It definitely helps but not for very long. I'll be heading to the store tomorrow. I wonder if an off brand allergy pill would help like Claritin?

Whenever I have bites I always take an allergy pill and it helps me tremendously! Normally I buy store brand to save $ and I think they work just as good!

White spirit. I like Soju best, but vodka or gin will also do it. The colder the better - keep it in the freezer and then soak a tissue and apply to the bites.
