Numbering your RSVP's?

KatieMBY, on August 17, 2017 at 4:46 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

I know this is probably brought up daily on here, but how exactly would you number your RSVP's, so you can keep track of who is going to attend or not attend when you start getting them back?

Just number your guest list (by household) and then write the corresponding number on the back of your RSVP card in small numbers. Don't over think it!

Assign each household a number on your guest list, then put said number on the back of the RSVP card and put it in the addressed envelope so you don't get them confused

After numbering my RSVP cards with an invisible ink pen, I entered the number next to their name on my Excel spreadsheet. Thankfully there were just two people who forgot to write in their names on the card.

Some people use invisible ink. We used a black pen. We put a number in very small print on the side of the RSVP card that had our address on it. We have a spreadsheet of all our wedding guests and just used whatever number was on the left hand side.

We didn't use it to keep track of who was and wasn't going to attend. We just crossed off names as we received them.

We used them to track the RSVP cards that weren't filled out properly. One guest didn't write in her name but she selected an entree, selected an additional entree, and wrote in that she was bringing a plus one. Two other couples send back the invite as a decline but didn't write in their names. Those are the only three instances we used our numbers.

I assigned a number to each household on the Excel spreadsheet where I was keeping track of RSVPs. I made sure the RSVP card with that number (on the back, in the corner) was stuffed into the envelope with that household's address.

I actually didn't have any returned that were missing the guest names, but the numbers were still helpful. I used them to tell which number entry they were on my spreadsheet to log their RSVP info.

We didn't have any RSVP mishaps (but we only sent out about 35 invitations), but I just wrote in pencil very lightly on the back. I didn't feel like spending extra money on an invisible ink pen. As far as I know no one was offended (or even noticed) that they were given a certain number.

I love the ideas! I will most certainly be using these. I have my guest list on a numbered spreadsheet already so this will work fine. Thanks!

Yep wrote whatever number their row was on Excel with invisible ink. I used the .csv format off of Wedding Wire.

Each invitation I sent I numbered on the back and kept an excel spreadsheet of who that number correlated to

I just numbered on the back and numbered our guest list. We have had at least 6 now returned with no name! So I turn the card over and see who matches that number! It was a lifesaverrrrr!!!!
