Numbering tables

CBW, on March 21, 2017 at 5:45 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Reading some posts about assigning seats, I started thinking about our tables. We are planning to use rectangular 8' tables rather than round (backyard wedding, and the longer tables allow us to fit more people into the space). We haven't finalized an arrangement yet, but one floor plan we are considering involves putting 3 8' tables end to end.

In this arrangement, would you count that as three tables for the purpose of numbering, or count it as one table? I'm thinking If I count it as one it could create some confusion, especially if I assign tables only, as the "big" table will seat 20 people...

I think I would count it as three. It would be easier to find my spot if there were 3 numbers as opposed to just one...

We have a similar set up and split one long table into 3 "tables" so guests could find their seats easier

ETA: We also assigned seats because that layout can get awkward if guests seat themselves

Yea I'd count it as 3 or you're going to end up with the same seating issues as those without seating charts.

How many of these big tables will you have? I think breaking them up into smaller sections for numbering would be easier so your guests won't have to scoot down to make room for others in case they misjudge how much room they need between people. If it's numbered as one big table, you could end up having one group sit down somewhere, and another group leave space between them and the first group, and if the third group has more people than the gap, it might be confusing. If you understand what I'm saying.

@Awkward- if we mix in the big tables, we will have 4-5 "big" tables, alternating with individual 8' tables all arranged in parallel (if that makes sense). We wanted to use all long tables, but the tent poles will get in the way. The awesome tent company keeps sending me different options for table arrangements, but this is what they feel will work best.
