Number of Tables

Hello Brides and Newlyweds!

Quick question -- how many tables did you have or are you planning to have at your wedding? How many people at each?

It depends on the size and kind of table. 60 inch round which I believe is the normal for a venue seats 8 people comfortably. A 72 inch round seats 10. So I plan on having about 100 guest, I'll be using 12 60 inch round tables.

ETA: 60 inch can do 8 to 10, but 8 would be more comfortable, and 72 inch can do 10 -12, again 10 would be more comfortable,

Your venue or the rental company you book will be able to tell you the seating capacity for the tables you'll have. Ours sat 8-10. When we split the guests who had RSVP'd yes into groups based on family that was close to each other and mutual friend groups, we had 7-10 guests seated at each table.

How many tables you will need obviously depends on the number of guests you will have.

How many guests to seat at each table? There are guides online.

If your vendor suggests a range, always go for the smaller number. Just because you can fit 12 chairs around a table doesn't mean your guests will be comfortable.

It all depends on the final rsvp numbers but I'm planning to have a mix of rectangular and circle tables. In my venue the circle tables fit a max of 10 and the rectangular a max of 12. But I can put 8, 9, 11, other numbers based on necessity.

The number of tables will depend on my final guest count. We have 60 inch rounds- those will probably take 8-10 as well as rectangular tables that will also be 8-10. I'd prefer to have lower numbers at each table for comfort, but also because I don't like sitting at a table full of strangers.

We had 165 guests and we did 18 tables. We did a combination of 8, 10, and 12 person tables. We decided based on how we could best group our guests to be with people they knew.

We had 148 guests, 9 rounds seating 10 each, and 4 long tables seating 16 each. We had a few extra chairs at a couple tables.

We had our sweetheart table and 14 60" round tables with varying guest counts. They ranged from 7-10 people per table. Total guest count of 116 (including DH and myself).

We will have 8 people at 60 inch tables! If every single person we invite comes we will have 24 tables! Our wedding is at a Winery with a rather large banquet hall so filling it up doesn't scare me! 😊

We had open seating at our wedding - no reserved spots - and set up quite a few more tables than needed. We had about 170 rsvp yes and we set up I think 18 or 20 tables for 10 each plus had 20 at the head (kings?) table.

Our venue had rectangle 3x6 tables and we pushed two together to make a square for each table of 10.

Depends on the guest count and size of the tables. You can have up to 9 people at a 60" round, or 10-12 at a 72" round. We had a mix of different size tables, with anywhere from 8-12 people at them. Our venue had both 60" & 72" tables available, and asked us to try and put at least 8 people per table. Once we gave them the table groupings, they made sure to have the appropriate size table out there. We had 150 guests attend, and 16 tables plus our sweetheart table.

Do NOT do open seating at your reception. Bad idea.
