Number of guaranteed guests

Yeah if she agreed to 75 thats her minimum. She could ask if theyll let her apply it to something else, like late night snack or something.

No, unless there is a minimum she needs to meet with the venue or the caterer (is this what you meant by guaranteed 75 guests?). See how many RSVP yes (if she already knows a few aren't coming, make sure you take them off of the final number), once you give the caterer the final count 2 weeks or so before your event then you pay for that many, regardless of if they actually show up or not.

If the contract states that she'll pay for 75 minimum, then yes she has to. We have a food & bev minimum that we have to meet. Our guest count puts us well over that, but if for some reason half of them declined, then we'd still be liable for that minimum amount.

Our catering contract allows us to increase our number but not decrease it. Look at the contract and see what it says.

If she hasn't given a final count yet then no she should give them the official number. However like others said above if there is a minimum for food and beverage see what can be added or upgraded

Thanks everyone. I did call the venue and told them I guaranteed 75 but only 71 will make it. They are only going to charge me for the 71. So I guess it depends on your venue.
