Number of cocktail hour tables

futuremrsrichardson, on February 23, 2018 at 12:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 13
Hi,
We are having 150 guests and our venue only provides 6 cocktail tables. During the cocktail hour we will have passed appetizers, made to order tacos, 2 bars, and lawn games such as corn hole. I also rented three couches for an outdoor lounge space. Do you think I need to rent more tables or can people stand for that long? The cocktail hour will be about 45 minutes to an hour.

I think you need more, that is only space for like 30-40 people to park themselves. I would rent at least 6 more cocktail tables... is there more seating than just the couches? Do the cocktail tables have bar stools?

There was an episode of 4 weddings where the one wedding had couches and one of the complaints was that it was hard to eat their food. I would definitely get more, even maybe some standing tables so people can at least put their drinks down to eat the tacos.

I would definitely rent more. Who is going to want to eat tacos if they’re dressed up and have no table to put their plate down on?

I rented a coffee table too so hopefully that won’t be an issue!

People need a place to set down their drinks so they can eat, especially tacos. They also won't be able to play yard games if they have nowhere to put anything down.

Should I add more cocktail tables or ask the venue to set up some of the reception tables outside so people can sit?

I think you need more tables. We had 155 attend and there were either 10 or 12 high top tables, as well as a few regular height tables with chairs for cocktail hour.

I agree that you need more tables. 6 tables simply isn't enough space for people to put down their drinks.

I only had 40 guests and had 7 high/low cocktail tables with chairs, as well as a chairs around a firepit. This worked for us but I couldn't imagine it working for 150 guests.
