Nude or white?

Becky, on February 11, 2017 at 9:18 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

I've heard you're supposed to wear nude under garments not white. But if the dress is white won't you see it? What are you all wearing under your dress?

White undergarments leave a shadow effect that can look dark under light-colored clothing.

I'd go with whatever matches your skin tone.

White undergarments can make your dress look more white in the area they cover, because the backdrop for your dress is lighter. Undergarments that match your skin tone prevent this problem.

I don't think it will matter for my dress.

I went with nude. My dress was sheath satin so white was actually visible underneath.

Whatever you wear, make sure you try it on under the dress. I brought my undergarments to my last fitting.

I didn't wear a bra or shaper (because of how my dress was cut + sewn in cups), but the panties I worse were white lace. My dress had a thick layer of champagne fabric with a few layers of tulle over the top, so it was a non-issue. So it depends. If you're dress is thin, do with nude to be sure.

Get something that matches your skin. It will disappear under your dress.

White but my dress is ivory. When I tried on my dress with all the stuff at the shop, you couldn't tell that I had it on. So I'm hoping it looks ok.

White underwear, no bra. I've tried mine with white underwear and it's fine. There are seven different layers though so that's probably why.

Nude. My dress is ivory satin and lace so it was the best choice for me. In general though I think nude, skin tone is always the best no matter white or ivory.

I wore white underwear. My dress was thick enough it didn't show through.

Nude! Take it from a nurse who had to wear white scrubs for 4 years. All the new nurses learned very quick that white was a poor choice and nude was the way to go!

I'm as white as a ghost so I'm wearing white. But nude is dark on me.

Whatever you wear underneath should be close to your skin tone, so that it will be flawless and unnoticed under your dress.
