Now What to Do...

Lisa, on July 26, 2019 at 2:54 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

Our wedding is on October 10, 2020 at an all-inclusive venue in Las Vegas. The venue provided us details packages for decor, linen and menu options with pricing. We have created a spreadsheet with our desired options and upgrades and basically, have our minds set with what we want across the board. We have proposals and deposits for flowers (centerpieces and bridal), our cake, photographer, and Hair and Make-Up artist. We'll meet with the officiant early next year, who is also included in the package.

We don't meet with the venue again until about 6 months out from the wedding, which is 8 months away. Same for our food and cake tasting. We will likely do our engagement photos in late fall or early next year.

I'll probably start dress shopping in October or November, and prepare a draft of our Save the Dates and formal invitations around the same time, just in case there is a sale I could benefit from.

I feel like I have nothing wedding-related to do between now and next year!

What have you done to prepare for your wedding when you have a large gap between planning timelines/schedules?

I guess I could focus on my workout schedule! LOL

We're planning on going with an all-inclusive venue as well which provides everything except a dress, a tux, a photographer and any other decorations I want besides lighting and floral centerpieces. I'm planning what I want to do for alterations with my dress (which I already bought xD) and create a layout for how I want the reception to look like. I'm also working on finessing my guest list and deciding whether I really want to invite my great aunts and uncles or just closer family lol.

Same date!! Yes, totally agree. We booked our venue a couple of months ago but feel like its too early to really do anything else. It's a little frustrating because I'm so excited and can't wait to fully get into the planning but on the plus side we have plenty of time to figure it all out.

Just enjoy being engaged! We got engaged in December of 2017 and our wedding is November of this year so we will be just a month short of a two year engagement so we just spent the first year enjoying each other.

We are getting married October 30th 2020 and my venue is almost the same. The included top self open bar during cocktail and reception, linens, the cake, the food, basic floral centerpieces for guest tables with the option to upgrade, they include candles and set up and all of that stuff. We really don’t have to be back there until a few months before either to finish up our final visits and head counts and all that stuff. We have also booked a photographer and cinematography, we have a florist for extra flowers we need like bouquets and a centerpiece for our sweetheart table, we have a dj who is covering all 5 and half hours. I also have an idea of what I want and the colors I want. I planned on seeing my the end of the year if vista print has another sale. They just had one that was 50%. When I was messing around with it like the save the dates and invitations were like 40$ all together with extras!!! I just have to basically get my dress and all that and figure out hair and make up and what not and a officiant but I have kinda just been still looking a lot on Pinterest and reading stuff on here and what not because sometimes I come up with something better and cheaper and I also like to compare different places for pieces on things like the guestbook and bridal party gifts and wedding favors! I also have just been trying to enjoy being engaged. It does seem now that it’s soooo far away but the fact that you have this going on sooner or later is better. The little things like picking music and seating and handing in your floor plan and making a list for your photographer of must haves and keeping track of everything and DIY projects and getting everything in order won’t be as easy as it seems to some. There’s endless choices and you only get one day with so much time. So with having a lot of the major stuff taken care of, I can focus more when the time comes on like my floor plan and seating and music without rushing because I’m also trying to deal with hiring vendors and all that!!!

I will certainly try! ❤️ We are both transplants to Vegas but it’s where we live and where we met.

You’re very prepared! We were talking about music last night so that’s definitely something we’ll have to do as time gets closer. We are going for older music like Frank Sinatra and Frankie Valli but definitely need to incorporate some of today’s hits (late 2020 hits actually lol). Good luck!

Well I had noticed for the ceremony sheet music and reception introductions that it was gonna be difficult because you have to pick songs for bridesmaids and groomsmen to walk out to if you have them in your wedding and not everyone has the same taste and there so many song you can walk down the aisle to and all that and then the photography and cinematography will be like really focused on so I get make of list of all the photos I absolutely want and need and save ideas of photos ideas I like and stuff. Weddings are expensive and stressful!!! 😂😂😂 so I’m trying to be totally prepared!!!

Thank you for the ideas! I could definitely start a list of pictures! Luckily our wedding party is just a MOH & BM, so their gifts and attire should be relatively easy.
