November Wedding Timeline Advice Please

Amanda, on June 29, 2015 at 4:51 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

It gets dark around 5 in November. Did anyone have a November wedding and can suggest a good start and end time?

Here's what we tentatively have:

Our ceremony is scheduled to be 2:30 - 3:15 then it takes 15 minutes to get to the reception space. We have the reception space until 10. But I feel like a 2:30 - 10 pm wedding is way too long. Would you have the ceremony later and race the sun for photos or end the reception early?

Our wedding ceremony is slated to start at 4pm, and we will be doing a first look and some family photos beforehand. At sunset FH (will be H, eeee!!) and I will go take some quick photos as well. Are you willing to do a first look? That would let you start the wedding later in the day.

Hi, fellow November bride! I think 2:30 - 10 is fine, actually. But I'm probably biased... mine will be from about 2 pm until 8:30 pm, so not that different. If you have your reception space until 10, you'll probably actually want to end around 9 or 9:30 so that your family has time to box up any of your things before needing to leave the space.

Are you wanting to get sunset pictures? Sunset in our area that day is about 5:15, so our plan is to eat our dinner very quickly (dinner is at 5), take just a few sunset pictures outside, then go back inside and do table visits while everyone else is still eating.
