November tent wedding too cold??

Brandy, on June 19, 2020 at 11:27 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9
Me and my fiancé have a venue booked for November 7 this year but with everything going on my venue can now only host 75 guests. We planned on having 100+. Now we are discussing the possibility of having our ceremony and reception at my fiancé’s farm. We would use tents and tent warmers. Tennessee November temperatures usually range anywhere from 50-75 degrees during the day. Do you think that this would be appropriate? Or would everyone freeze?

I think it might get too cold outdoors at night unless maybe you change your timing so that you have a daytime wedding?

My daughters birthday is 11/6 and mine is 11/8 Smiley laugh we have outdoor parties in NE Ohio more often than not...as a worst case idea, maybe invest in a couple of those outdoor heaters for patios. They run around $200 - we bought one at Sams Club end of last year.

If you can rent a tent with walls and heaters, it may be doable. Anything else is too risky. We got married in Kentucky (so similar climate) in November and hoped for an outdoor ceremony. The high that day was about 43 and it rained the whole day.

I think as long as you rent or buy outdoor heater they will be okay. I would also make sure to tell guest that are from out of the area that it can get chilly.

Like everyone else said, I think if you can provide the outdoor heaters it’ll be fine. We are having a November wedding and the ceremony is going to be held outdoors unless it’s raining (or snowing...) and we are getting blankets as favors so people have them for our ceremony. You could always do something like that as well.

I got married in November in North Carolina and it was predicted to be 50 degrees and at the last minute ended up being 40. We had the reception inside but the ceremony was freezing. We had blankets and hot hands and were going to get outdoor heaters (which I know are different) but they were hideous and I was told they didn’t put out much heat anyway. Maybe the tent will be ok with warmers, but I would ask your rental company for an honest opinion first before you put money down.

Honestly, I would be cold at any kind of high in the 50s, and unless it was super sunny, the 60s would be really chilly for me too. Plus, once the sun goes down it will be cooler. I wouldn't risk it, because of the possibility of guest discomfort.

With heaters you'll be fine. My sister threw an outdoor Moroccan-style party in a tent in November a few years back. Let me tell you-it was SO cozy and warm in there and it was pouring outside! Those heaters are pretty powerful in a space like that

I would aim for mid day so it’s at its warmest. I, also thinking you just gave the average for the whole month of November, but the beginning would be warmer than the end. I think with a tent with walls and a heater or two you should be fine. Honestly at 60-70 you don’t need walls or a heater, that would still be super comfortable for many people.
