Not wearing "white" tô bridal shower

Lindsey, on June 25, 2017 at 2:46 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

My shower is not for 11 months but I was having a conversation with someone about what I'm planning on wearing and I didn't want to wear white/ivory. I wanted to wear maybe the same as my STD/ engagement pictures: which will be a blush color and one of the colors associated with my wedding color scheme. My actual wedding dress is ivory.

Is it weird I don't want to wear white ? Will it look odd in pictures ? I rather re-wear a $90 dress then buy a white/ ivory one I'll never wear again....

There is no rule to what you should wear to your shower. I will be wearing white because I choose to. You can wear whatever color you want.

What? No, you don't have to wear white (in quotation marks or outside of quotation marks). You wear whatever you want to wear -- you can wear jeans and a red top if you want to. You can also wear a pretty white dress. You wear what you want.

I didn't wear white. I wore a cream top but my skirt was black and my cardigan was maroon. Also my wedding dress was ivory.

I did the same as you want to do! I had a cream sweater with maroon pants that I wore for both engagements and my shower.

You can wear whatever you feel like, you're the guest of honor! I actually think it's easier to use a dress that's not white. Most of the time I'm wearing a dress, its to work or to another persons shower/wedding, so I'd get more use out of a non-white dress anyway.

If you're worried about standing out, you could pass along the color you plan to wear to your hosts for them to "stray away" from that color. Not necessary at all, but i checked with the bride to be of the last shower i attended (I was one of the hostesses throwing her the shower) to see what color dress she was wearing so that I didnt wear the same color.

You can absolutely wear that! I really like that idea to wear a wedding scheme color instead. You could also wear a white sash with "bride" on it to make the outfit a little more shower-y but still wear the dress again in the future without it being associated with your shower.

I am not wearing white to mine. I have chosen a color that goes with my wedding color only because it is my favorite color and so that I will feel amazing on my shower day. My shower is going to be close to my wedding, only due to conflict with my MOH busy work schedule.

No rules saying you have to wear white or ivory. I wore a bright coral dress because I liked the cut, the color looks good on me, it's summery, and I will for sure wear it again.

For bach party, I may wear white to stand out or I may not..we'll see what kind of dress stands out to me then
