Not sure about hair and make-up trial

Meghan, on December 16, 2019 at 9:34 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 5
So this past weekend I payed $300 for my hair and makeup trial, I didn't get my hair styled how I wanted so the stylist played with it until it was close and I told her I thought It was very pretty so we took pictured and made notes, but after leaving, my hair became very ratted looking throughout the day, she put so much hair spray in it once curls started to loosen it started to look like I dread locks and looked horrible on top.
My make-up was very pretty but nothing like the sample pictures I sent her. She wouldn't let me look in the mirror until she was completely finished and then when I finally got to see I told her it's a little bold for it to be "me" but still pretty. She asked me what I would change and I told her, and we talked about it, but she never changed my look so I could see, she just promised she could do it like that on my wedding day if I wanted... But that's why I wanted the trail.. To see it. After a few awkward minutes I decided to leave, I had to get back to the babysitter because the trial too wayyy longer than expected. I guess I don't really know what to do, she charges for second trials and I'm really scared to book with her if she does what she wants with hair & make-up. Should I just take the loss and do a trail somewhere else or pay for a second trial?! $300 is a lot of money for us but I thought it'd be worth the money. 😩

I wouldn't trust it. If she seemed like she was setting aside what you wanted then I wouldn't work with her for the actual wedding. I'd rather be happy on my wedding then thinking about how much better it could be or worrying about not looking good enough.

It doesn't like you'd be happy with her for your wedding day so I would pick someone else. She obviously didn't do what you wanted so I wouldn't expect any different on your actual wedding day.

I had a trial and while it was costly, my HAMU artist said she did what she thought I wanted and then we discussed what was wrong. There was ALOT wrong. Foundation didnt match my skin tone (she didn't have a porcelain shade with a touch of pink) and in the pics it looked like I had on a yellow mask. No where near the color of my neck. I'm a redhead and I wanted more of a pinky-nude lipcolor, but I had a light fushia. And when she lined my lips, she didn't do my " cupids bow," which I have. She just had a straight line. She came from a highly reputable company with mostly 5 star reviews. Even though I wasn't totally pleased with my trial, I did have confidence in this person to make the corrections we needed for my wedding day. My stylist was very sweet, friendly, and knowledgeable, even with the issues. So my less than happy trial didn't worry me quite so much. Hope this helps & best wishes!!!

I would find another hamu artist. If she didn't get your original vision, that would be a red flag to me. That's what trials are for, so don't feel bad for finding another one!

Honestly, if you believe there was a miscommunication than book a second. If you feel she wasn't understanding the direction and vision i would find another stylist/artisy
