Not on the diamond train..

Marissa, on October 26, 2019 at 4:30 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
So my engagement ring no longer fits and we discovered it’s not resizable. Now I have to get a new ring. But I never really realized how expensive diamonds are. And after paying over $1000 for my old ring, I just don’t want to do that again. I want a stone that will hold up over time but I don’t care if it’s a diamond. In fact, I’d rather not have a diamond. On one hand, I want that classic look. On the other hand, I couldn’t care less about the ring because I’d marry my fiancé with a ring pop. But we both want me to wear something. Thoughts?

You mention that you prefer not a diamond - is this because you want a different look, or more due to price? If it’s price, have you considered moissanite? Similar to diamond (a little more sparkly) but cheaper. Also close to diamond in terms of hardbsss/durability, especially compared to other popular stones like sapphires or opal.

I have heard many stories of people going to pandora to get a sterling silver ring. It is after all what it represents that counts. I love how you have already decided in that thinking. It’s great.

You should be able to take any diamonds out of the old engagement ring and put them in a new setting. The stones are the more expensive part.

Definitely recommend moissanite and CZs if you're looking for something that looks similar to diamonds, but are a little more affordable. As PP said, they're durable and beautiful. 😊
I'd also check out some other stones like sapphires, rubies, opals, pearls, etc. They are also beautiful, but not as traditional if you want something different.

My friend got sapphires in her ring. It’s very pretty.

You should be able to take the diamond from your current right and just find a new setting to put it in.. that would save a lot of money! My setting was $300, whereas the rest of the cost of the ring came from the cost of the diamond.

I'm planning on getting a Moissanite stone. it's about 1/10th the price of a similar quality diamond, and sparklier. A lot of people can't tell the difference, and it's a gemstone in its own right, so you're not sacrificing quality.
