Not hearing back from my venue

Kelly, on June 13, 2018 at 1:56 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

Hi all, I don't know what is normal when planning a wedding so I need you guys to tell me if it's ok to be frustrated/worried.

Our date is in October, so we're about four months out. We booked our venue in August 2017 so we had a pretty decent lead time to plan. The venue (a hotel) recently went through a rebrand and so a lot of their details have changed (menus, bar pricing). I have asked our contact at the venue to send me new menus 3 different times. The first time she told me they weren't ready yet, this was a month ago. Last week I asked for them again and haven't even gotten a response so yesterday I sent another email and this time cc'ed her assistant on it. It's only been a day but I haven't heard anything back. I know this is busy wedding season but this venue was not what I would consider cheap, the venue rental fee alone was $8000 and we have to purchase food from them so we're going to end up spending at least $30,000 just on the venue. In the past I have had trouble getting responses from our contact there and whenever I hear from her she doesn't remember who I am, she asks me about things that we have already discussed. Once I asked her what the dimensions of the tables are so that I could rent linens and she gave them to me and then later in another email exchange she told me something completely different. This is so frustrating because I have such a hard time getting her to respond so when I get two different answers about something I feel like I have to start from scratch with her. Is this normal?? Any tips on how to get her attention without being a bridezilla? The wedding date is getting close and we still haven't picked food, we don't even have choices! Hallp!

I'm sorry but no more emails, time for a face to face, can you contact the general manager..I'm sorry but I would be highly upset if I was spending that much money. I'm spending half of what you're spending and our consultant is so sweet and responsive

I would just call if they aren't responding to emails, and maybe schedule an in person meeting if you can! It's getting too close to be waiting.

Is your venue close by so you can maybe stop by in person? Perhaps send an email saying you need to get some details finalized so you can send your invites, etc and state you will be there on a specific day and you would like a meeting? That's so frustrating, good luck!

Thank you, I feel better knowing someone else would be upset also! Our contact is very sweet in person but just so non responsive. Maybe you're right that I should try and schedule a face to face. It just seems silly to go there just to get the menus that could easily be emailed.

Maybe she doesn't have them and doesn't know how to tell you so she is just avoiding you but you have other issues/questions that she should be answering. She should at least give you a timeline as to when she expects

I would definitely be upset! Wedding season or not, this is unacceptable. I personally would skip the phonecall altogether and march my butt down there to speak with someone in-person!

Yeah, it's time to go by in person. Sure, they might be busy but it's their job and you're paying a small fortune for them to do it.

It is definitely time to take a trip... when going under a rebrand and once things are completed they have all of that stuff. That is wayyyyyy too much money not to be getting any answer/mixed answers. If she isn't available to meet ask for the Director of Sales and Catering. 4 months will pass by so fast and that is the last thing you need to worry about.

Hi Kelly! I am sorry to hear about this! How are things going now? Have you been able to effectively speak with her yet?

    Hi there,
Did you ever hear back from your venue? I am getting married October 19 and I am still waiting for a response from my contact at the hotel. After our tasting he was suppose to give me a breakdown of options. For the Rehearsal Dinner he tried to sell me in a pasta dish and I told him at the tasting I had seen a plated option on their menu with a Duet Option and I emailed it to him and he said he would get back to me ..... this was over a month ago. I have gone ahead and contacted my Rehearsal Dinner guests and got their selections and have a Table plan numbered for the meals, I have selected appetizers for cocktail hour etc. Waiting for them to call or email for final details.... when should I start getting freaked out!!! Not like it is not driving me crazy already but hell why should I just keep doing their job for them????
