Super June 2021

not excited

Blair, on November 11, 2020 at 11:25 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12

So we had a minimony on 10/10/20 and now I'm not excited about our reception on June 5th. We've already put the money into it and there are no refunds. Anyone else feeling like this?

What are some things your not looking forward to about the bigger reception for June? What are you doing? Is there anything that went wrong with your minimony? I would treat the bigger reception as the perfect time to do everything you couldn't do in your minimony. Smiley smile

What specifically are you not looking forward to? I feel like this some days and then other days I'm excited to be able to celebrate with the family and friends who couldn't make it to the minimony.

Right now I'm not looking forward to any of it. I'm hoping once the New Year rolls around I'll be back excited. Right now its just seems unnecessary to me because I'm already happily married. But you are right I need to look forward to celebrating with ALL my family and friends.

YES!! I did the same thing on 10/10 actually. We are still doing a 1 year (10/9) vow renewal ceremony before the reception. I feel like I'm being selfish having '2 weddings'. Also, I'm scared that no one will want to come because we're already married. But, like you, there's too much nonrefundable money involved to cancel and I saved my wedding dress for the new date. I hope I get excited the closer it gets.

I felt the same exact way. The wedding and my reception were 2 weeks apart and when the reception came (very fast) I was like another event to prepare for. I spent the whole day practicing our first dance because we were not prepared at all and when the party time came all my events shifted as far as times. I am so thankful my bridesmaids were able to calm me down.

I feel the same way about people not showing up. We'll be married for 8 months by then. I should of did a year like you and then I could call it a anniversary party.

I feel you. All my bridesmaids have their dresses and I would hate for them not to get the chance to wear them because I decided to cancel.

Stay positive! I know with everything going on right now it can be a little hard to be excited for a party celebrating the two of you, but I'm sure as the date gets closer you will be more and more excited Smiley smile

I was in the same boat a few weeks ago. We got married in the backyard, pushed the big celebration to next year. Then I started to think about why were we spending sooooo much money on a party next year when we could go on a nice vacation instead? Or fix up our house to get ready to sell? But then I started thinking about my wedding dress (I didn't get to wear it) and how I was going to vamp it up ( I have lost a lot of weight since buying) and I got excited again!
