Not enough parking?

Megan, on January 11, 2015 at 8:38 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

We found a great venue for a ceremony and it has enough seats for 150 people but there are only like 50 parking spaces. HELP. any ideas to try and make this work?

Have you asked the venue how this is normally handled? They must have dealt with the before if they facility accommodates 150.

Do you have many people staying at a hotel? If so, what about a shuttle?

Yea I'd call the venue and ask. I'm sure this isn't their first rodeo.

Are there any nearby places that might not need parking on the day of your wedding? Not sure if you could clear it with people to use a nearby school or something (if it's a weekend). You could always rent a shuttle or school bus to transport people.

BUT keep in mind that 150 guests doesn't mean 150 cars. Maybe 75ish, tops. You could always put a note on your wedding website that parking will be limited and carpooling is suggested.

Future is right; 70ish cars plus shuttles.

I would look at your guest list and see how many groups there would be over individual people. Also what else is around for parking? The place I am going does not have much for parking but there is on street parking and other places that allow people to park in there lots.

I second- ask your venue. Do they provide valet? Or maybe you need to pay for valet? Or shuttle guests from your hotel?

They said "we have accommodated up to 180 for a church party and no one complained about parking" . its an old small church. we thought about asking people to carpool but were afraid our friends will forget (still in the carefree college go-with-the flow phase haha). we may can find some place to shuttle from.

My church has no parking whatsoever. I'm putting on my wedding website that street parking is available or there's a parking lot down the street thats free and about a 3 minute walk.

I think you'll be okay...is there street parking available?

There isnt. Its kinda hidden away from the city on a 1 lane residential road. I may have found a place down the street to park at because they arent open saturdays!
