NOT a barn wedding

Ms.Wanderlust327, on May 13, 2015 at 12:48 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

Does anyone know of a decently priced wedding venue that's not a generic ballroom and isn't a barn? All I can find are barns! And we are not a barn couple! I've found a few places but "all inclusive" would be nice so I don't have so much stuff to do and take care of. Any suggestions would be great, thanks!

Hi there! You need to give some specifics if you're going to get helpful feedback. Where are you? What's your budget? (decently priced means a lot of different things to different people) How many guests? etc. Also, check out the sticky at the top of the forums for newbies. Lots of helpful information Smiley smile

Country Clubs usually offer all inclusive packages. They might be a place to look.

    Thanks Erica!

Near the Houston area would be great but willing to drive a few hours out. I don't have a specific budget so decently price would be under 10k. And my guest list will depend on my venue. If I fall in love with a venue that can only do 50 people, then I'll only invite 50 people. If it can do 100 then I'll only invite 100 people, definitely maxed out at 150.

If driving is not an issue take a look at the 7F lodge in College Station. It is somewhat barnlike in the outdoor reception area but you dont have to use that part. The outdoor chapel take awesome pics. Here is a blog post from a wedding we did there. http://caffreysphotography.com/wedding-at-7f-lodge/

You'll get better feedback if you change your avatar. I only clicked on this bc I hate barn weddings.

There are tons of venues around Houston that aren't ballrooms or barns. lol My suggestions off the top of my head would be: The Bell Tower, Chateau Cocomar, Hotel Galvez (Galveston Island), Gartein Verein (Galveston Island), Butlers Courtyard, Ashton Gardens, Olde Dobbin Station.

You can try an art gallery, a museum, an aquarium, or a zoo!

Country clubs or golf clubs tend to have all inclusive packages with the most value IMO. Also try places like historic houses, garden mansions with event space, or bed and breakfasts if you are ok with a small wedding. We also looked at parks, museums, and wineries.

Shirley Acres is a great one. But my suggestion would be to have a bigger wedding than 100 people there as you'll get the bigger room which is nicer than the smaller room. You get a garden wedding outside and everything is included AND you can add to it if you want. Decently priced. You can't get the entire wedding under 10k, but I'd say possibly under 16k?

Also another great place we saw that I liked, Oakwind Weddings in Alvin. Yes they do have a barn, but you do NOT have to have your reception in it. They have this amazing plantation style house and a beautiful backyard patio with lights hanging from the trees, and chandeliers. You'll also get a garden wedding as there are 3 different spots you can choose from. The all inclusive wedding there is 100 people for 15k. And the only thing you might have to provide is EXTRA flowers.

Ohhhh...and the place I almost booked before we decided to go Destination, Karbach Brewery!! If you and your FH love beer, man it's pretty cool. Can't get much larger than 100 people though. They have a $5,000 food and beverage minimum, which is REALLY easy to hit when food is $55/pp.

But one thing to keep in mind when finding ALL your stuff, TAX AND GRATUITY. It's not always included so make sure you ask if it is or isn't.

    Enjoy!
