Nontraditional Recessional Songs-Pixies anyone?

Jennifer, on August 29, 2017 at 6:57 AM Posted in Planning 0 3

Sorry guys for all the recent posts- 11 days out and head is spinning! But honest opinions- what do you guys think of "Where is my Mind" by Pixies as a recessional song? I love the song and the beat, but yeah not very romantic nor traditional. Too weird?

I enjoy the Pixies, I would recognize it and laugh at it. But I'm not sure I would choose it for the recessional. From what I've seen, recessionals are pretty upbeat and fun songs, and Where is My Mind seems just a tad slow.

There is a piano version of it by Maxence Cyrin that is hauntingly beautiful and I actually think would make for a gorgeous processional. Most people wouldn't recognize it, but you and your fiance would know! (and the coolest guests) I love the idea of an "inside joke" like that, it would make me smile walking down the aisle.

I think it is totally fine to do a non-traditional song for your recessional. Personally I'd pick a more romantic song, it doesn't need to be overtly mushy but I'd still want it to be something where the lyrics suited the occasion or our relationship a bit more, even if the song was non-traditional, but this decision is really about personal preference more than any sort of etiquette so at the end of the day you can pick whatever you like.
