Looking for inspiration for non-suit/tux groom attire. Anyone go this route?

    We are having a hard time finding FH something that will go with my dress that is casual too. We have bought a number of short sleeve linen white shirts he likes but he feels under dressed. My dress is my avatar and he loved the dress but its hard to find something for him now. I have another dress that is all chiffon but I feel it is to casual also.

    What is your venue like? What sort of ideas have you considered and liked/disliked?

    We are getting married at a lighthouse at 1:30 pm. Every suit just seems very "heavy" for mid-summer, mid-day. He has a gray suit that he was initially considering, but I think he will die a thousand deaths standing out there in that thing. I really want him to wear a bow tie and suspenders, and he is super pumped about it. That's as far as we have gotten in the thought process...

    @Kia9

    Seersucker suits were designed for the heat. With what you described, I think that would be your best choice

    There are many suits that are designed to stay a lot cooler and you could go with a light color to make it more summery

    This is our inspiration as FH loves to skate and we're not having a super formal event.

    Second The seersucker suit. A friend has one he wears for the derby each year complete with bow tie and straw hat! It's so classy!

    I like that, Kara!

    I think I would like something kind of khaki colored (not necessarily a jacket but pants). FH has basically told me to tell him what to wear because he doesn't want to have to make a decision - neither do I! Haha

    I love the look of the men in suspenders and bow ties. I have trouble accepting the look however, paired with the bride wearing the most formal dress she will wear in her lifetime. As pp mentioned, a seersucker suit would be perfect. Other alternatives, a linen suit or a blazer or sportsjacket.

    I agree with seersucker - I think it would look wonderful with the lighthouse venue. I look forward to seeing pics in the future - sounds like a beautiful wedding.

    I didn't even consider seersucker! I will definitely be exploring it as an option. Thanks everyone Smiley smile

    Not the best photo but when my mom got remarried in the summer on the beach my stepdad and stepbrother wore light polo's and khaki pants. They went for a more Hawaii feel for theirs since that's where he proposed to my mom.
