Non-suit groomsmen wardrobe

Shelby, on March 9, 2016 at 4:36 AM Posted in Planning 0 6

I'm thinking about doing something like this, where FH is the only one wearing a vest and the groomsmen are in just short and ties. My colors are a mix of Maroon, Gold, and Champagne. What colors do you think would go best? I know for sure they will be in khakis, not black pants and ties. Maybe white shirts and champagne ties and FH wears a champagne vest and maroon tie? And they all get gold accented bouts? I am not style savvy! I can't dress people! I don't even have bridesmaid dress colors picked!

I'm thinking of doing the same thing! My FH wants them all to wear dark jeans, the groomsmen wear a shirt, tie and suspenders, and he'll wear a vest. We know our color scheme is going to be burgundy and ivory.. But I'm having the same problem deciding what should be what color though.. I don't want there to be too much color, but I also don't want them too look too plain

You will be much happier if you find the bridemaids dress first. Finding a dress that you like and is the right color might be harder than you think. The same shirts & tie come in alot of colors and will be a lot easier to find.

Personally I'm against khakis and a tie for young men, I feel like its an older mans look.

And then adding two more neutrals... It can look sharp but it can also look very dated.

We are doing the same thing, but added suspenders to the boys (our best men are our teenage sons). We also somehow did it it backwards and got the guys set first, and then found something for the girls that was perfect. But that's definitely not the way I would recommend. Get your dresses first.

I think the right khakis are fine for younger men, just get a modern fit and color. I agree with PPs - find your bridesmaid dress first, then pick shirt and tie to match. Also, what color is your dress? I don't love white shirts on men with an offwhite or ivory dress.

With your colors I would do ivory shirts. The other colors would be hard to find. For the ties, wait till you get the dresses so you know what colors to do. Also the groom should match you. So maybe khaki vest and then gold tie or something that ties it to you.
