Non-SPF Liquid Foundation????

Jessica, on January 22, 2015 at 8:53 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

So, I have very sensitive skin (and VERY prone to major breakouts!), so I am quite hesitant to let someone else mess with my face, or use a makeup I am not familiar with on me.

However, everything I read says that makeup with minerals or SPF will wash you out in the pictures.... But I can't find any without!!! Any ideas??

I still need it to be hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, and of course affordable! (I generally use on Almay for anything liquid, and only Physician's Formula for anything powdered....)

Makeup Forever HD foundation has zero spf

ETA: Idk about the hypoallergenic part. I don't think it is.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've tried both Mac studio fix and MUF HD and don't like either. My skin is very dry and for some reason no matter how much I moisturize or prime, they look flakey/cakey. I've tried a billion foundations and, believe it or not, my holy grail foundation is Avon Ideal Flawless. But it has sunscreen in it. I'm bummed. I'm a fan of Smashbox products, so my next try is going to be their Studio Skin. If you find something you like, please share!

I have been trying elf products. Crazy cheap and so far seem to work. Lol my Bruce is in high school, going to dances, so she is my canvas to try different makeup on.

Here is a great article that explains flashback: http://apracticalwedding.com/2014/08/spf-flashback/ They test several different options some with spf and others without, the conclusion some foundation with spf was fine and some without wasn't. Basically you should test your foundation to make sure it doesn't cause flashback even if it doesn't have spf. Also usually this isn't an issue unless your photographer is doing a lot of direct flash.

I absolutely love Motives Cosmetics!! This one doesn't contain SPF, and has natural ingredients (might be more than Almay.... but its less than MAC and Makeup forever HD)

I would also use the Motives powder photo finish to set your face on your wedding day.

This will help absorb any shine off of your face.

Thank you ladies for all the suggestions!!!

Natalie, that is a great article!!! My photographer advertises herself as a "natural light photographer" so even though we are getting married in a kind of dimly-lit building (day time though!) she probably uses less harsh flashes if any.... I will definitely have to ask her about this issue!
