Non-responsive hair company

I have, supposedly, “booked” a person (who was highly recommended) to do my hair for my wedding. I haven’t heard a word from her in almost 2 months, no down payment, hair suggestion request, nothing. I messaged her to confirm that she has me down for the correct date and time, she replied she did and that she would be getting back with me later that week... this was, as mentioned, almost 2 months ago. I, finally, messaged her again a week ago... she read it with no reply. Do I look for someone else at this point? (my wedding isn’t for another 41 days - who’s counting 😎), but this has me concerned. Do I give her more time? Has anyone been through something like this before??

I personally would look into other people, but it may be difficult to find someone who is still open this close to the date.

This is happening to me with my normal hair stylist. I decided To avoid pulling my hair out and stressing over it and to look elsewhere. I hope you can find someone!

Are you trying to schedule a HMU trial?

If not, idk why she would need inspiration pictures more than a month before the event. Three weeks before my event I had a call with my HMUA because I was supposed to incorporate extensions into a complicated braid (otherwise we would have just met the day of). The week before my wedding I was asked to text location and time. The day of the artists just asked for a room number.

If you are uncomfortable you may want to look for someone new though. I would look at how much the cancellation fee will be in your other contract.

I'd start browsing for other people, but I'd also reach out to her again. If she doesn't respond after that, I'd definitely intensify the search for someone else.

Gotcha, thanks! No, we are having a destination wedding, and so will not have time for that.... this is why I thought she would want pictures of things that I am interested in. Maybe, as you mentioned, she is comfortable doing this closer to the actual date. I just would love to hear back from her at least, out of courtesy.

Yikes, that would worry me, too. If you haven't paid a deposit, I would look for someone else at this point.

If you haven't made any deposit or anything, I would definitely consider someone else. Even if you are able to eventually get ahold of her, I think that's super unprofessional. You need someone reliable for your big day. If you can't find another hairstylist in this short of notice, I would hound her like crazy to get in touch with you!
