Non-formal invitation wording

Stephanie, on July 6, 2017 at 8:02 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

I'm finishing up designing our invitations and I'm stuck on some wording. My fiance thinks a lot of the common phrases are too formal for us. He didn't like things like "Request the pleasure of your company" "Invite you to attend their marriage" or "Invite you to join them on their wedding day"

He wants something that is not formal and sets a more party-like tone (but not too crazy--we're having a Sunday lunch wedding). He did like phrases that have celebrate like "Join us in celebrating the marriage of [names]" and he liked "Eat, drink, and be married."

Suggestions?

    I saw an invitation today that read "This shit actually happening" and loved it.

    What about just "join us for the wedding of X and X!" ETA: Oops, you said that sorry. :x

    @ChrisK that's awesome Smiley winking

    @OP I think what your FH said sounds just right. Simple and still less formal.
