Non-charger plate tables

Sara, on July 7, 2021 at 12:48 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 16

After so much consideration, I have decided to pass on the charger plates for our tables. I love the looks of them and am upset, but could not justify spending the amount of money they cost to rent or buy. We are having a plated dinner with salad plates, bread plates, coffee/saucers, silverware and then main dishes. I think with our napkins and all of that, our tables shouldn't seem too bare with the flower/tree centerpieces.

Did any of you brides/grooms skip the charger plates and regret it? Did your tables look just a busy without them? How did you layout your table designs without them?

I’ve only seen them on Pinterest, not in real life and the tables look fine without them.

I had never even heard of table chargers until I joined this forum. I think the wedding industry is skilled at inflating your expectations and making you feel like everything is necessary, when in reality they are not that important.

I also opted to skip the chargers for the same reasons you listed. You can do a nice napkin fold with a menu.

Charger plates are so unnecessary. Didn't have them, didn't ever think about having them, and didn't regret not having them at all.

I've never heard of charger plates until now - I had to look them up on Google haha. But after looking at them, I don't think they are necessary at all! I will not be having them - actually, my caterer is actually going to use compostable paper plates and I love the idea of it. But then again, we are having a very casual-feel wedding and don't want it to look/feel to fancy!

I love the look too, but we skipped them! I’ve only been to one wedding that actually had them and they do look nice. All the others look nice too, it’s not going to be missed.

Same thing with us- couldn’t justify the cost. There was plenty on the tables- the chargers would have been too much.

We had silver sequin runners on each table to just give it that sparkly touch!

I didn't have them at my 1st wedding but will at this one. I ordered gold sets from Dollar tree.

I had them at our first wedding since the venue automatically supplied them. I think it’s a “to each their own” decision. I’ve been to plenty of receptions that didn’t have them and the tables still looked beautiful.

We aren’t having them - we thought it would take up too much room with everything else on the table.

I honestly can’t remember if the weddings I have attended had chargers or not, so you’re absolutely fine to skip them!

Our venue supplies them. Otherwise we wouldn't bother.

    I think you're fine without!

The last wedding I went to was the only wedding I've ever seen have them. None of us at the table had ever seen them or knew what they were for so we all got very confused once our salads came out and we didn't know what do to with them 😅

I am skipping charger plates as well. Personally I like the look of a less clustered table so going with napkins, silverware, water glass and centerpieces instead

I TOTALLY agree with Nicole. The wedding industry is just after the money, its been very disappointing to me as I always idolized weddings.

You can go online to Dollar Tree and purchased them for $1. They will ship to your address. 👍🏽
