Non beach honeymoon?

Goingthomas2020, on May 13, 2020 at 3:21 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 12

Hello brides! I'm not exactly sure when my wedding will be. It was going to be October 24 but we decided to wait because I couldn't handle all the "what if" stress. I am trying to do some fun things though like honeymoon ideas. My fiancé and I don't really enjoy the beach or being outdoors too much. I burn easily and we both grew up on the beaches of Florida. We were thinking Japan but with the uncertainty of the world were thinking of staying in the US. What are your favorite non-beach destinations?

Yosemite, the Big Sur coastline, Yellowstone. I've always wanted to visit the northeast (Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, etc) during the fall to see the leaves changing.

I’m not sure where you’re located now, but if you want less outdoorsy or beach places:
Boston, New York, Seattle, San Francisco, Austin, Chicago...

How about Las Vegas? Or rent an airbnb in a rural area?

Maine is beautiful is the summer! Specifically Portland - I would definitely recommend checking that out if given the opportunity. What's nice about New England is it's so easy to visit multiple places also - for a honeymoon you could do Maine, Boston, NYC...

New York City is awesome and has tons of potential for a honeymoon. Nashville is so much fun too. I also would suggest Austin because that’s my home town but also has sooo much to do whether you prefer the urban city scene or want to check out the hill country.

What would you want to do?
If you don’t love the outdoors then a city might be the best?
I personally love San Francisco, as long as you’re not planning to go during the summer because there’s a lot of fog during that time. You can do a lot there, visit a lot of neighborhoods and see the Golden Gate Bridge. There are a lot of great restaurants throughout the city. There are also a lot of cute cities around if you want to travel a little: Sausalito across the water, and some south of San Francisco like Pablo Alto or Carmel/Monterey/Santa Cruz if you’re okay driving a few hours. Otherwise think of any place you’ve wanted to visit before and look into it!

Yes! I spent a summer in Maine teaching horseback riding at a camp on Lake Thompson. I loved it (minus all the mosquitoes!)!

I love San Francisco too, and Chicago can be pretty fun. Or come on down to Louisville, KY to drink some bourbon, see some horses, and eat some fabulous food :-)

We're not beach people, either (I have sunburned twice *in England*, so DH doesn't let me out in the sun), so we did Disney. But you're from Florida, so I'm guessing that's... not special?

Pick any city in the US that you've never been to, but have wanted to go to, and go play tourist. NY, Philly, Chicago, St. Louis, San Francisco... you can do any of these on any budget!

There're so many non-beach things to do! Maybe visit a city that sounds fun, road trip around the US to see many different places, or get an AirBnB in the mountains or anywhere inland!
