Non-alcoholic Cocktail Hour?

Rhiannon, on November 8, 2019 at 1:52 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 11
Hello ! My fiancé and I will both be under the age of 21 at the time of our wedding, and neither one of our families drink a lot of alcohol, so we have opted to not serve it at our reception. This begs the question... do we still call cocktail hour “cocktail hour”?

I would probably call it a social hour!

Social hour! We're not serving alcohol at our wedding either. We're having a morning wedding anyways that starts at 1130 am so kinda early in the day for it anyways! We'll have lots of yummy food options during social hour and the reception

Personally, if I’m going to a wedding I would expect there to be alcohol.

Not every wedding has alcohol for various reasons. The poster was just asking what to call her cocktail hour, not for whether or not she should serve alcohol.
At least once a week someone tells me I am going to ruin my wedding by not serving alcohol. It is really frustrating when people try to tell you how to run your wedding.

LOL thanks so much for your opninion 👏🏻 If she didn’t want feedback I don’t think she would have asked in a public space.

I like the idea of calling it "Social Hour"! That way guests likely won't expect alcohol

Kaleigh didn't try to tell OP how to run her wedding. She was simply giving her opinion, which is what this forum is for Smiley smile

I think "social hour" is a great idea as well.

If you're serving appetizers you could just say "hors d'oeuvres from 5-6" "dinner 6pm" depending on your listing things.

I had a non alcoholic one and called it a snack break which in hindsight should have been called a social hour ahaha
