Hello,

My fiancé and I visited 6 venues and we are getting married in eight months. I fell in love with the last venue we visited. He brought up taking out a personal loan. I said that we shouldn’t take out a loan for a wedding, a house yes, but a wedding no. My father said that he is willing to put $3,000, but stated maybe we should start up a go fund me page after hearing how one couple needed $10,000 for their wedding and they ended up raising $25,000, which when he first told us I said no because it would make us seem desperate, but you know apart of you can only wonder what if 🤔?? I’m wondering if anyone else would consider starting a go fund me page to help pay for their wedding?

I'd say no. If you can't find anything you like in your budget, then you need to up your budget, which means you need to push the date out and have a longer engagement.

My husband and I will have about $5,000 in our wedding. Including venue, hotels for out of state guests, dinner, decorations, photographer, cake, and dress. I’ve budgeted the hell out of our wedding, and we aren’t compromising on anything. You can plan your dream wedding without breaking the bank, or doing that. However I do know a couple who made gofund Me accounts for their wedding and honeymoon and people paid! I didn’t, I wasn’t for it. But to each their own.

Hello, I wouldn't start a page. You have to budget for a wedding. You have to start shopping for the little things now. That way big things dosen't seem so costly. Look for deals in everything. If you're going with a banquet hall. Ask about their off wedding season prices and consider Sunday or Friday those are much cheaper days. I got married on a Sunday 5 years ago in an off season month. Try a cash bar, if they want to drink they will pay for it( If you are worried about you drinking believe me someone will pay for you all night as long as you are willing. You don't have to pay for what is considered normal for a wedding. Also consider some DIY projects. My mom and I did my centerpieces for the reception and foral arrangements for the ceremony down the aisle and my girls bouquets, the groomsmen boutonnieres. The only fresh flowers were the fathers, mothers, my bouquet and my husband boutonniere. Try going to bridal shows some of the vendors there offer discounts and sometime free services. I hope this helps you. Congratulations.

A court house wedding is free other than the license fee. A wedding is not a necessity. Plan what you can afford. You shouldn't ask others to pay for a party that you want to have.

The ONLY way I would ever recommend doing a GoFundMe for a wedding/would donate to one would be if someone was terminally ill and they and their partner couldn't afford a wedding.

I would not do that if I were you. Just put it off a year or two and save.
