No rush, but PLEASE help!

Carla, on September 7, 2016 at 12:03 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 18

I have been trying many things to clear out my little bumps all over my face and I lately I have been trying some face wash called "Noxzema" and I don't feel much of a change... My wedding is not till next December but I would like to get rid of these bumps (whiteheads) as soon as possible!

Carla, go to the dermatologist. They will be able to figure out what's going on and prescribe something.

I'm sorry that I don't have any suggestions about face washes, but I do have a suggestion about changing your avatar.

Ugh, I'm in the same boat. I have little bumps all over my forehead. I'm going to get a facial tomorrow and I'll ask them about it.

Sorry this isn't helpful, but best of luck!

Okay...I'll bite on WTF Wednesday. First, ditch the Noxema. Second, what kind of bumps are they? Have you seen a Dermatologist to determine whether it's run of the mill acne or something else like eczema or rosacea? Use a mild cleanser like cetaphil, or something designed for sensitive skin. Noxema will strip your skin and make it break out worse.

I haven't gone to a dermatologist but I do know that the Noxzema doesn't break my face out more.

Well if it's as bad as you say, it isn't helping either. I would go to the dermatologist instead of trying a ton of different products.

When you say bumps, you need to be more specific. I struggle with milia (which isn't rare but also isn't common in adults); they're white bumps under the skin. They're NOT acne so they can't be popped. I have to get a dermatologist to burn off the big ones, but if they're small they either subside on their own or I can remove them myself (it hurts).

Bumps can mean a million things from acne to milia to textured skin.

@Carla - Go see a Dermatologist. Noxema is so bad for your skin.

Depends on the kind of bumps, but there's a cream I use occasionally with the big gross ones that won't dry up... I think it's called AcneFree spot treatment. Be warned, it dries your skin like crazy so don't use too much or too often, but it can help the stubborn ones. If you're having a chronic issue though I second what others say and see a dermatologist.

I use this Garnier charcoal face wash/scrub stuff. My FH has really bad acne and he says it helps more than anything he's used before.

My wedding is less than two weeks away and my chin is still breaking out, but I just will have to roll with it regardless of what happens. You have some time to get clearer skin. My advice to you is if you aren't doing it already, to start eating extremely clean, drink a lot of water, get enough sleep, workout, and don't stress about it so much or else it will break out more. I promise you will be great by the wedding day.

I too have milia and like everyone said you gotta go to a dermatologist to get them out. I started getting them after I moved from New York to California; I feel like it was my skin's reaction to the new climate.

God I HATED Noxema! My mom used to make me use it when I was younger. Just go to a dermatologist. By the time you go out and buy all these different products that people suggest, you could go to the dermatologist and find a better solution. You want something that actually solves the problem and based on what you said, Noxema is doing nothing but keeping it from getting worse.

I can tell everyone that my sister completely cured her acne by applying organic virgin coconut oil to her face every night. She had horrible acne, and now it's totally gone! However, this is not an overnight treatment, as it did take several months to show results. I know you are worried about white heads, maybe this would help with that as well, and it's a super affordable/all natural option.

I use this Aveeno Face wash daily and it has greatly improved the texture and tone of my skin. That being said - not all skin types are the same. But for $6 it may be worth a try before an expensive trip to a dermatologist is needed.

Same @Jo! And that it is bad for you too apparently too.

OP, definitely check out a dermatologist as pps have suggested. It may be something more than a regular cleanser will be able to clear up. But also make sure you are drinking plenty of water, because that is an easy step for healthy skin.

I would totally hit up a dermatologist. I the meantime, go to LUSH and grab some ultrabland - a great facial cleanser that is natural. Good luck !
