No RSVP Card

FutureMrs.Scott, on December 16, 2015 at 5:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 25

So I am going through invitations trying to find one that goes with my theme and I found one that I love but the kicker is its over my budget by $100 for invitations. With out the RSVP cards its a little closer to my invite budget. I have been trying to look for invitations for a while a now and this is the only invitation that I have gravitated towards. So I am pondering.. Do you think it would be appropriate to leave out the RSVP card? And if so what other options can I do if I decide to leave out the RSVP card? Thank you ladies in advance. Yall are always a ton of help.

We are going to just use the website/calling to RSVP. We will have an extra piece that is RSVP size printed, but we will just do that ourselves.

You can do an online RSVP through WW I believe. However, you would still need to include the info on HOW to RSVP somewhere in the invite.

I've had two friends do RSVPs on their websites recently. It worked fine for the younger crowd, but not sure how it'll work for the older folks on your guest list. Perhaps consider doing RSVP cards for people who might have trouble with online reservations (or prefer a paper card) and online for everyone else.

A generation ago, RSVP cards were actually seen as rude. To include one would suggest that your friends would be so boorish as not to write a proper response (in blue or black ink on a "informal," which was a foldover card, typically engraved with their names). So it's not an etiquette violation not to have one.

On the other hand, these days, the prospect of getting a written response to an invitation without some obvious way to reply is negligible. So if you're not having an RSVP card, and don't want to have to track down every single one of your guests, I'd recommend some other way to reply. WeddingWire has an RSVP function. AnRSVP is a dedicated RSVP site:

    http://anrsvp.com/

You could also ask for RSVPs by e-mail or phone, if you give them an e-mail address or phone number to do it. (And remember, those phone RSVPs may come when you are out of the house, so think carefully about whether you will remember to write them all down.)

Do a wedding website, add the info of the website on your invites and let others RSVP there.

We had received astronomical quotes for invitations ...then we googled them. We ended up getting invitations (including rsvp cards and placecards) from a vendor in India. Yes, the shipping cost a lot but it was by far way more affordable, and the invites are very fancy. The hardest part was figuring out which font to use. The website we used was www.123weddingcards.com. Good luck. Everyone raved about how beautiful our cards were Smiley smile

Im not doing an rsvp card, they are not as popular here as other places, some people do them but less and less do due to cost. To be honest I have never received an rsvp card for a wedding.so If you have spotted an invite you want but can't get the rsvp card, I'd say go for it anyway. However do make sure there is enough room on the invite for all the relevant rsvp info.

My invite has bride and groom would like to invite....... To join them in celebrating thier marriage on...at......followed by dinner and dancing

    Kindly rsvp by......

    Text: my number /FH number

    Email: Wedding email address

Post: (some people still like to reply with a hand written card)

I didn't do an RSVP card. We did online RSVPs. The invitation included a line that said "To RSVP, please visit our wedding website at ___" or something similar to that. No one had a problem with online RSVPs. My 80 yr old grandfather was actually the first to submit his. If you have a few people you're worried about, though, you can either include a card for them or just call them.

I found invitations that I love but, like your situation, were over budget with RSVP cards. So I just ordered the invitations from that website and ordered RSVPs from VistaPrint. I waited for a good sale and got them for about $0.30 a piece (compared to the $1.55 a piece that ordering from the other site would have cost). I don't know if the invitation design you're considering would be conducive to mixing and matching designs. Ours are just pretty simple black & gold invitations, so finding an RSVP design that "went" with them was pretty easy.

Someone posted this morning that they are including a business card with the RSVP info for online. That could be an option for you if you can't fit the RSVP info on the invite. Just make sure to include an email or phone number to reach you at if someone is having trouble RSVPing online.

We didn't have an RSVP card either. We included an email address for RSVP's on the invitation, and DH's mom called his old aunt and his grandpa to let them know they could RSVP by calling her. It worked out well... though we had a few people RSVP through Facebook or text Smiley tongue

When FH and I were discussing this, he was not into the idea of paying for RSVP cards and extra postage for that. So we are doing online RSVP using our WW website, and I am going to print a bunch of small cards (business card size) with the # of seats reserved and the website URL. My friend did this for her wedding and I didn't think anything of it as a guest, so I assume it will be fine.

2ndbride - I love the term boorish. I am going to start integrating that into my vocabulary.

We added an RSVP card that directs people to our wedding website to RSVP by a certain date. You can always ad that to the invite. Or to call/text/email you.... Our website automatically send the reply to an Excel spreadsheet where we added formulas that will sort everyone out to help with seating later.

I did not do RSVP Cards, I did a Wedding Website on here and there was a section to do RSVP on here, but if you don't want to do a website you can get them from Vista Print, they have super cute cards almost like BUS. Cards and you can personalize them yourself.. and for the older folks you can just call them if there are not too many !

If I had not done RSVP cards I was going to use business cards and put my phone number and email address with the RSVP date.

Or, as someone else suggested, get the invites that you really like and get the RSVP cards from VistaPrint. We got our invites and RSVP's from there and they were very reasonably priced.

IF you do online RSVPs I wouldn't include an RSVP card. One of my friends just sent an invitation to me without one with an email address to RSVP to.

You can either do online/calling RSVPs or maybe you can make your own RSVPs cards for much cheaper

I put my phone number, no RSVP card.

Of course we only have 40 guests and most of them don't need to RSVP (parents, siblings, bridal party). If you have a lot of guests, I'd set up the website or put an email address instead.
