No, gifts are never mentioned on, with or near an invitation.

Hi Martha! It's perfectly fine if you don't want to register, but be prepared for people to ask! No registry information should ever be included on a wedding invitation, so neither should the fact that you're not having one. If guests ask I'd just say "oh we don't need anything we just want to celebrate with you!". Mosts of your guests will probably still bring you a gift or card!

Totally fine to not register. Do NOT mention your registry, or lack thereof, anywhere near your invitation.

So should we leave no mention of preference for a downpayment fund in lieu of gifts on our website too?

I'm going to assume CaliforniaLove is joking.....OP, you don't have to mention it anywhere. If you people directly ask, then you can tell them you aren't registered.

You can put it on your wedding site as many of us use it to share more details about the wedding.

Some phrasing can be like: "We're so lucky to be able to spend our wedding day with all of our friends and family; your presence is truly all the present we need."
