No processional - alternative to walking down the aisle?

Alli, on May 21, 2018 at 2:01 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 5

Did anyone NOT have a processional/walk down the aisle? I dont like the idea of all eyes on me, walking slow, with sappy music - just not my style. I wanted to be mingling with guests and somehow just start the "ceremony." I also didnt want a bridal party standing with me. Did anyone do anything alternative to a processional/bridal party at the front/aisle walking?

SIDE NOTE - our wedding is a very small, laid back wedding with 25 people, non religious - just having a ceremony to ease our parents

My friends did this and it was great. They had less than 80 people and had their dogs! They had a thirty minute meet and greet in the ceremony area and served a welcome cocktail. TheY had lounge seating with seats for 60% of the people. And when it was time for the ceremony, the officiant made a quick announcement and the grooms and their best men just stepped into their positions. It was still very classy and was beautiful.

Could you walk in with your partner? Or already be at the altar when everyone comes in?

Yes, I've seen something like this done and it went perfect. Also as others said you could walk in together. Keep the music upbeat and just relax with your guests then step into place.
