No one using wedding website!

Ana, on June 1, 2017 at 12:49 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 26

Did your guests go to look at your wedding website at all??? I put my website on our STD in the front, in a good sized font. No one has signed the guest book on our website and every time I see someone in person who I have invited to the wedding, they ask me simple questions that could be answered on the website. Such as, where are you having it? What time does it start? Do you have a registry? Our save the dates are magnets on the back, so they have it right on their fridge too. lol. I'm not too upset, just annoyed! Do guests not look at it until way later?

Yeah, people will still ask you. i had the same issue. i did put a ton of detailed travel/accommodation info on my webpage so sometimes when people went down that road, i gave them a quick answer and said there was more info on our webpage.

I do not think anyone has looked at mine either.

There have been many weddings that I have attended that I have never looked at the website. We didn't create one for this reason. I didn't get that many questions though. everyone just waited for the invitation and the bridal shower invite had the registry info on it apparently.

I'm noticing this too! People asking me questions that are on the wedding website. We had the link on the back of our save the date though so maybe they missed them? I just feel like wedding websites are so popular now that I really think I would think to look on the back. I printed out business cards that have the deadline for the room block and the wedding website info again and I'm going to include them with my invitations. Hopefully there will be no more questions!!

I'm getting similar questions. My own father asked me to find a hotel for him! I've told him and others so many times that the hotel info is on the website.

I don't recall how many visited the site but I think enough. I mean they had to RSVP through website or email.

I feel so much better. I am sorry to say but no one is using ours either and we get married next month. People are mailing the RSVP's back instead of rsvp on the website.

Most people don't take the initiative and read for themselves. So far the only people who have looked at our wedding website are the people who we asked to check it out. We're not doing RSVP cards and asking people to respond on the site so it will be used more once invitations go out

I know people have looked at mine because of the view counter in the administrator page. but people still ask anyway

Mine wasn't looked at easier. I think they are something that are still relatively new that people forget about or they'd just rather ask you directly instead of going elsewhere.

Honestly I've always looked at others websites but I've never actually signed the website guestbook. Seemed like an odd thing to do when odds are good I've seen the couple in person.

A few people looked at mine on their own - we included it on an insert card with the invitations. Whenever people asked questions about accommodations or directions I would just direct them to the website. We had to send a few people the URL because they didn't know what they'd done with the card lol. I kinda figured not many people would look at the website, which is why I used WeddingWire to build a free site instead of paying for one.

The counter indicates people visit but no one signs the guest book. I'm fine with that.

I feel like wedding websites are still new to some people (at least for people I invited). Gave them the option to rsvp online or mail but most people so far have done it through mail even the younger guests which I wasn't excepting.

Waiting to be accused of tackiness BUT

We emailed everyone about a week after the STDs went out saying that they should have gotten their STD and that here's the link to the website. Boom, over 100 hits (for 75 addresses sent to).

Planning on doing the same after the invites go out. (Wasn't actually going to, but after seeing on here about so many invitations not being received because of USPS issues, I figure it can't hurt. PLUS I'll be pretty sure to hear from anyone who didn't get their invitation!)

People are lazy. I know, because I'm lazy. Clicking on a link in an email is easier than entering the full URL.

I have 30 views on mine, but yeah, people still ask those stupid questions- either because A.) they are indeed stupid, B.) Just want to start a conversation, or C.) they just forget.

Did any of you guys have guests use the RSVP tool? If seems like it would make my life so much simpler when the time comes, but I don't know if people will actually do it. I know I would, but that's just me.

I figured most people would not type in an address from a physical invite so we attached the website link to the STD email we sent out.

And yes many are lazy to type it in because once we sent out the STD, we already got RSVPs even though the invite was not sent out yet. When we sent out invites many were like "yeah I already know you RSVP'd but everyone still gets one, see you at wedding!" sort of thing.

Seemed to work for us and we already knew who was going to come way ahead of schedule.

@Karie - I attached the website link to my STD (email). So people just had to click to get to the site. Most people RSVP'd right away using the website even though they did not know on the invite what form of RSVP was required (paper or electronic etc).

There was some confusion among a few guests about food; wondering why we did not ask them for the food options. We had to tell them that it was a menu and they can choose the day of, no need to decide now.
