No one to walk me down the aisle

I have buried both my parents in the past six weeks. I'm not close to my step father or step mother anymore for i detached from my family. Would it be tacky to ask my soon to be father in law to walk me down the aisle since I'm closer to the family than my own? I don't want to offend my family, but...

In my 40's and my first marriage.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm sure FFIL would be honored. If you think it may offend someone you could always walk down by yourself as well. I have seen it done many times.

I'm so sorry for your losses. No, it's not tacky. You can ask whoever you like to walk you down the aisle.

I'm so, so sorry for your loss. That's a lot to bear all at once. I hope you're holding up ok. I'd think FFIL is a great choice if you're close. It's perfectly ok to walk yourself down if you choose, but it can be oddly comforting to have someone with you. I didn't really want my father to walk me down at my first wedding but it was so important to him, and I wound up pretty grateful because I was so nervous! So just something to think about.

I'm so sorry for your loss; it must be really hard to get married without them there. I think it is absolutely sweet to think of your FFIL, and I'm sure he would be touched if you asked him! Although as others mentioned, there are no rules and you could certainly walk alone or whatever you are comfortable with. Hugs!

So sorry for your loss! Let your FFIL walk you down the aisle and just tell the others that you feel this is the best decision for you.

Thank you everyone. I've come to the conclusion I will meet my fh half way and we will walk together and I will have pictures of my parents in my bouquet along with a trinket of each one that i have close to my heart. All of you are truly wonderful

Everyone else already said it - it's not weird for him to walk you you can do whatever you want!

I am so so sorry for your losses though I just wanted to express my sympathy.

Sorry for your loss. I am actually having my 25 yr old son from my first marriage walk me down the aisle. Because my adopted father walked me for my first marriage and he is not available this time. You can have anyone walk you or simply walk alone.

I'm sorry for your loss, words don't seem to cover what needs to b said. Your wedding day will be emotional enough, however you should have the person you want walk you down the aisle. It is your wedding day, people that care for you will want you to be happy.
