No one has even looked at my registry?

Victoria, on August 8, 2019 at 11:02 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 21
I am exactly two months out from my wedding. I have posted my registry info on our FB group, it’s easily accessible through our wedding website, sent out with our invites/save the dates.

No no one has even looked at my registry let alone purchased anything. We have a honeymoon fund on it since we already live together and have all the “homey” stuff we need.
I’n just curious if this is normal or people will start buying/contributing soon. Or if i’m being a bridezilla...

Most people like to give cards w/ money at weddings. So I wouldn't stress it.

There's no reason that you should be providing registry information on social media, save the dates, or invitations. I rarely, if ever, buy a wedding gift 2 months in advance unless there's a shower before the wedding. Many people aren't fans of honeymoon funds, so I wouldn't expect tons of people to use it anyway. You'll likely receive mostly cash or check gifts.

In our family/friends registries are just for showers, not the wedding. Did you have a shower?

A lot of people don't bother worrying about gifts until two weeks before so don't even worry about it.

We didn’t have a shower because family is scattered all over the country so that was a whole other expense they would have incurred had I hosted one.

Then I would for sure not stress about it. People will prob just give you cash or a check or purchase closer to the event.

We are having a really casual wedding, informal invites, a wedding website, and detail cards. The website wasn’t printed on the invites or save the dates. Just separate cards.
Our family is spread all over the country so a FB event was the easiest/quickest way to communicate information.

It's still too early honestly. My wedding is two days after yours and nobody has purchased anything from our registry either. It's pretty common for people to wait until a week or two before the date. If you're doing a honeymoon registry, you'll more than likely get cards with cash or checks in them at your wedding, with only a few guests actually using the registry. So make sure you have a card box out at your reception! Smiley laugh

My coworkers (this is TEN woman) literally told me the second I gave them their invitations in the break room that they'll be giving us cash in an envelope and not to expect them to look at the registry LOL. A lot of people don't care about the registry anymore!!! all 35 of the women in my office are throwing a work bridal shower for me at some point before our wedding (they throw one for everyone who gets married) and I'm sure I'll receive some of my registry items then but I noticed with my coworker who got married in May, I was one of 3 people who even checked the registry. People kind of just buy cute things they see and think you could use or would like based on what they know about you. Wedding guests like to give cards and money because it's easy. I know this though so my FH & I are planning on using our bed bath and beyond registry as a very organized shopping list so we can slowly buy all of the home items we are wanting ourselves after the wedding Smiley smile

It is too early - I bought a bridal shower present for my nephew's fiance the day before the shower and we will be writing a check to them as a wedding gift on the way to the wedding in the car, lol!

To be blunt: You are not a bridezilla but to be looking at your registry to see what has and has not been purchased AND setting up a honeymoon fund, it can give the appearance of where your priorities are.

I've received one gift from our registry for our wedding next month. My shower is next week but it is for personal gifts for the bride, not wedding gifts for the couple so we'll see. I'll be surprised if anyone gets anything from our registry lol. I'm thinking our families are probably money givers which I'm not going to complain about!

If you only have a honeymoon registry you will probably just get checks in cards at the reception.

Well our registry has maybe 5 things, and then the honeymoon fund is part of the registry (Zola). I just was thinking about it and popped in to check. My mom and I always bought gifts months in advance as soon as we knew where they registered, so I guess it’s a case by case thing.
    I’m not obsessively checking lol

I am legit two days away from my shower on Saturday and there are barely any gifts purchased and yes I have been peeping at who the gifts are from and lemme tell you, not even my bridesmaids have bought anything yet. I am a little confused by this. I have never waited this last minute to get a shower gift for someone. I am like cool so nobody is coming, got it. I wouldn't stress about yours though since not having a shower they still have 2 months to pick a gift or give cash!

If it makes you feel any better, my shower is this month on the 18th and I am only inviting local, I didn't give my registry to all my family and friends invited out of town....but the only person who has viewed and purchased is my mother. I only know that bc I helped them move last weekend and she told me where to stick the wedding gift boxes...the week before she told me to look at my registry to make sure she picked the right color of an item she purchased.

and to top that off, no one has RSVPed to a shower of 45 women and my family has paid a butt load of money and we have no idea if anyone will show up.

Perfectly said....none of mine have either...Like I posted, only my mom has looked and bought. Its a bit disappointing, but I am also confused...we haven't had the first RSVP and we invited 45 people.

If no one is looking at your registry then expect to get lots of cash / checks instead

This is not something to be stressed about. It’s not like you can change their behavior so why worry.

Also, from my experience, people really hate honeyfunds mostly because they’re a scam so that could be something to remember. Chances are they’ll be some clicks about 1-2 weeks from the wedding.
