No motivation to plan!

Karen, on February 6, 2016 at 11:22 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

Everyone says wedding planning is so much fun.. But I sure don't think so! Is anyone else finding wedding planning to be a major chore?! It's not that I don't want to marry my FH -- I do! And I can't wait to start a family with him. He's the love of my life! But the wedding planning part sucks... Anyone else with me on this?

I'm planning in phases. There was a few months that I didn't do anything. Then all the sudden motivation hit and I had the venue and DJ booked. It can get very overwhelming and fast just pace yourself and it will get better

Like Brenda said do it in chunks. I would recommend creating a month by month list of things to get done. If u have a clear list of 5 things to get done by the end of the month then you have given yourself a clear deadline and when you are done with your 5 things that month you are done.

I agree with Brenda. You'll have your moments when to work on it and the days you want to skip. In the beginning I made sure that I had the church, hall, cake DJ and photographer booked and slowed. You still have time to get things done, don't stress it will come together.

I'm not going to even lie... Wedding planning has at times made me have nightmares! There are times when people mentioned the word wedding and my stomach gets in a knot. According to my wedding planner I'm going through pre wedding blues...

Like PPs said, just do it at your own pace. I make sure I keep up with the WW checklist and then I take a break for a couple weeks.

@Anikia A. I have definitely had many sleepless nights from worrying about the wedding. The anxiety I feel is hard to put into words. I didn't know pre wedding blues was a real thing but I think I'm going through that too. I'm really glad to know I'm not alone in this. And thanks to everyone else who has commented. It's true... Misery loves company! I feel better just knowing other brides dread planning.

    I can definitely relate lol

I think it just takes a while once you come down from cloud 9 aka the engagement lol then reality hits of all the things you need to do to! It can be a bit overwhelming. We see weddings on TV, attended weddings, been apart of a weddings BUT it's totally different when it's your own.

Yes it's very difficult. And most importantly stand your ground and don't anyone rush or force you into working on your wedding. Looking forward to see how you're coming along in the future. Keep your head up.

Timeline is the way to go. For example commit to getting a caterer booked in February, flowers in March, etc. It's much less overwhelming that way!

If its stressing you out, and you aren't finding it much fun, you might want to look into having a professional help you. I mean, obviously I'd say that, but its the truth. Even if you just have a consultation with one, maybe they can steer you in the right direction on a few things since you're finding it hard to get motivated.

Your wedding date is in October, if you're getting married here in Houston, thats one of the busiest wedding months, so don't wait too long!

I had my "OMG let's go randomly look at plates!" moments and my "If I see one more DB commercial I'm going to vomit" moments. It happens

I'm the same way! I think I feel overwhelmed and end up spending hours researching and perusing sites and forums and not really making much progress. Information overload! I hope to be more efficient with my time. My wedding is in October and I still have lots of major vendors to secure (dj, videographer, officiant, florist). Ahhh good luck!

If it was simple and easy I would't have a job! The majority of brides and grooms have never planned an event as big as their wedding day. Planning a wedding is a very stressful part of any couple’s beginning of their life together. While I do handle other events I only take one 4 maybe 5 weddings where I handle start to finish because it is very stressful and time consuming. Theres a great videographer in the Houston area I could recommend
