We've finally made the decision to cancel our stateside reception and make it a 1 year anniversary celebration. CA, has increasing COVID cases causing increasing restrictions. We didn't want to have to practice distancing, mask wearing or decreasing our guest count taking away memories and comfort. We still moving forward with our DW in Jamaica. It was hard to let go of the immediate gratification with being 75 days away but worth the relief of safety for everyone and not losing the thousands we've put out including attire that was already being altered.

I feel the same way. We just postponed our July 18, 2020 wedding to next August 2021. It was sad at first, but it's all been such an emotional roller coaster and don't want to stay on it until the very last minute. I want to be able to enjoy my big day without having to worry about restrictions.

It was a tortured existence for a couple weeks wanting to do what's right but not wanting to let go of my vision. Not counting the 2.5 years of planning, stress, irritation of our planner and emotions invested. But, at least this way we have more time to spend to execute the reception exactly the way I want.

It is, and thats what we're focusing on. Now, we have the financial freedom to do everything during our time in Jamaica we couldn't budget for

Sorry you had to switch up your plans, but the Jamaica wedding sounds amazing. Glad you are not completely cancelling the reception. I know it is hard to wait a year but like you said you want to be able to have these memories! We decided the same. Switching it up and having an intimate beach ceremony here in FL in the same area as we originally planned just now on the beach with 14 people instead of 84! Then having a nice dinner yacht reception like we originally planned next June. I can't wait to see your pictures from Jamaica!

I think that's a good plan Ingrid!! These are all such hard decisions to make, but hopefully you feel a little better now that you've made a final call!
I would also definitely start researching more things you can do and splurge on in Jamaica!

I was determined to go through with out plans but it came down to realizing it wasn't going to look and feel the way we envisioned and I wasn't willing to minimize our vision.

I feel such relief. It was hard considering monies already spent, the health of everyone and our vision. But, a friend of mine came up with the idea of having an anniversary celebration and the weight just lifted.

That's exactly what we did it was hard now I'm just praying we will be in the clear next year. I think my heart would just be torn if we had to move it to 2022.

We just bit the bullet last night and decided we had already cut our numbers as small as we could
and even then it just was not going to be enough to ensure everyone would be safe we pushed back to 9/4/21. It is impossible to have a fun reception when we need to do what is right and first and foremost practice 6ft of distance and wear mask for the reception. We are just going to still do an in state alone honeymoon and get away later this week where we will do some retail therapy and spend the nigh or two out alone. Congrats Lady on your big day!
