no more boring Food!

Ellissa, on August 19, 2019 at 5:51 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 20

I am so tired of the same old chicken, beef, and salmon options all weddings have. I hate the thought of paying so much money for something no one will remember and I don't even care about. I want some mac and cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches, fried pickles!!! Any suggestions? My wedding will be in the Hudson Valley, New York area. I'm open to food trucks but haven't really come across any. I'm not sure where to find them.

Thank's all!

Food trucks sound like it'd be great if that's what kind of food you'd want !

Sounds really good! I would just google restaurants in the area who have grilled cheese and see if they cater!

I’m actually looking forward to the salmon on my wedding day but salmon is one of my favs. Like I eat It every week lol.
    Your choices sound delicious though.

Sounds like something a bbq caterer can provide! I would look in to it, bonus points because it’s usually cheaper than traditional catering.

Hey there! I’m a fellow Hudson Valley bride! (Wedding day will be 4-26-2020) habe you looked into MixNMac? There is one in Middletown and there’s another coming to (I wanna say) Poughkeepsie in the next month or so. Also Lola’s Cafe in Poughkeepsie is great. And farmer’s and chefs food truck

Just if your favorite restaurant caters. I got stuck with a kinda boring menu because of diabetic and vegetarian guests but I put my foot down at “mixed vegetables”, no way in hell!

I’d kill for a menu like yours! I hope you can find it.

We are having mac n cheese as one of the entree selections at our wedding. It was sooo good at our food tasting I just had to make it an option for guests. We are also doing a mashed potato bar during cocktail hour.

Tacos or a nacho bar! We were going to have tacos catered but we had to fire our caterer. Now my dads coworkers are doing BBQ and the sides.

I'm getting married in Troy NY next June! I totally agree with you!

    Here is our menu:

cocktail hour: assorted cheeses, pulled pork sliders, buffalo chicken dip with tortilla chips.

dinner: 2 types of salads ( wedge and caprese), 2 types of mac & cheese ( 4 cheese and bbq- chicken bacon and bbq drizzle), baked potatoes with all the toppings, pork loin, beef brisket and corn muffins with cinnamon butter. This will be buffet style and we are having a formal wedding.

Also open bar and donuts for dessert.

I see BBQ options a lot. I just think it looks so messy! I feel like there are so many chances for me to ruin my dress!!

FH and I agree with this! We decided on doing a mac and cheese bar/ build your own mac sort of thing. And we decided to do mini apple crisps with ice cream as dessert to fit in with fall!

Chef Jill of Jillicious Foods & Events does tons of Hudson Valley events and can do *really* fun, creative food and totally custom menus—she is great to work with!

There are a bunch of great bbq caterers in the Hudson Valley, too!
