No heels

E-CO, on June 30, 2016 at 3:18 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

Sorry for the daily last minute questions! FH thinks we (I) need to email all the confirmed guests to reiterate our request for no heels. The ceremony is in a riverside pasture and the reception is on a lawn. The website, under the ceremony section, has a request for ladies to wear flats, wedges, or boots. The invite just has the name of the ranch, so I'm fairly certain everyone has gone on the website to find directions, lodging, transportation info, etc. Do you think I can trust that everyone actually read the dress code? If you got an invite to a wedding on a ranch would it occur to you that heels may not be a good choice? I don't want to annoy guests/ insult their intelligence, but don't want anyone falling or pulling their heels out of the grass all night. Thanks!

I'm in somewhat of the same boat- cobblestone and high heels won't be a good mix. I think it might be a nice gesture, if in your budget, to provide some SoleMates for anyone that didn't remember.

Even if it's at a ranch, ranches do have interiors, so you can bet some women will wear heels.

I also don't really check wedding websites, so I might miss it.

It wouldn't hurt, maybe to reach out.

I went to a wedding last weekend that was held at a ranch/campground type of location. That was all the information I had (no website) and I chose to be smart wore flat sandals. I think if you've put the information out there, you don't need to baby your guests and tell them again what kind of shoes would be best.

I personally would understand not to wear heels and did the same (mentioned on website and our invites say farm) so we are just hoping our guests understand! Most adults can read those clues and if not they could have asked and if they do wear heels unfortunately there is nothing more you can do without possibly offending or belittling some of your guests intelligence! Happy wedding in a week!

Edit: Sasswood that's a great use and very thoughtful for guests who might have missed it! I might steal that idea!

Thanks, Weber! I don't know any women who travel with zero pairs of flat shoes, so hopefully on Friday night there will be some "what are you wearing tomorrow" discussion, and the girls who have been to the ranch will reiterate to wear flats.

Steal away!! I've never used them but my aunts and some friends swear by them.
