No guests vent

Cassi, on March 28, 2014 at 9:50 AM Posted in Planning 0 10

So I need to vent for a moment. We are getting married in key west & it's a destination wedding.

We understood the hassle it may be for everyone to get down there & we will cover most of the travel costs for guests. We invited 30 people. As of now only 10 are able to attend. That's not even 50%

I mean they all have valid reasons

Won't have time off work

Due date is 4 weeks before weddin but is prone to going 3-4 weeks early

Possible health concerns

Moving to a new city for a new job (pastor) 3 months before wedding.

All valid reasons - but it just so happens those 4 couples were the ones we wanted most. It's very frustrating.

Sometimes that's the price you pay with a DW. I'm sure the ones that will be there are the ones who love you the most! Smiley smile

Unfortunately, that is just the side effects of having a destination wedding. It's asking a lot of people who you invited. I'm sorry you're disappointed though.

Oh no, that's a bummer! I'm sorry your guests can't make it. Unfortunately that's a sucky reality of desintation weddings. Can you at least celebrate with them when you return?

Thanks for letting me vent. I knew that not everyone could attend. But we went from 4 in each wedding party to 1 in each.

It's almost our entire weddig party who can't attend

If having a DW was causing my wedding party to not be able to attend, then I would change the location to something more local. What's the point in having your wedding on a pretty beach if the people you love are not there to celebrate with you? Just my $0.02.

    Oh no! That's no good.

October is far away -- things can always change (well except the due date...)

What about having the DW and having a small celebration when you return home?

But the people who are there are the ones who love you the most Smiley smile

You still have 10 people who are probably really looking forward to it.

We are having a "wedding party" when we return to celebrate with everyone (150-200 people) so it's covering everyone. And it will be streamed back home live.

Just struggling with the fact of who can't come

That is a tough one. My sister had a DW in Aruba and I had a new baby and 2 toddlers and could not afford to fly 5 of us to Aruba fro her wedding. We missed it and I regret that but, we celebrated other ways when she got home.

Maybe have a live video stream of the event for your guests who can't attend?
